The Jobber Blogger #131 – TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 22/10/14

Jobber Blogger logo2

It’s bad when writing TNA Wrestling as The Jobber Blogger starts to remind me of work… that’s bad right? 131! pfft! It’s not even worth the reference!

It appears that time has drifted on a little from when I started to Write this. Ahh, I’m a wonderfully strange individual. I revel in my weirdness.

So, it appears that people are happy with the current product TNA is putting out. I would like to say that I am also happy with it, they are putting on good television. However, it being taped still taints my impressions.

bootcampWho watched British Bootcamp 2 – Episode 1?

I won’t give it a full write up, but I quite liked it. Last year’s original show was a little too scripted for my liking. It didn’t feel real enough, despite their best efforts.

This time around it’s better, though still a bit odd. It’s like Wrestling meets X-Factor, only they judging panel of Samoa Joe, Gail Kim and Al Snow can pretty much make the contestants to jumping jacks and speak in different languages. OR ELSE!

The “reality” side of the show actually feels more real, so that is a bigger bonus, plus having Spud as a host, Joe, Gail and Snow as judges and also participating, gives the show that much needed credibility edge.

I won’t pretend like I remembered everyone’s name, but the one who stood out to me the most was the Red headed girl. I suppose her hair was rather striking and I have thing for Red Hair.

But I digress.

Nikki Storm (needs a name change), I liked her attitude, and also hated her attitude. It works for a persona, not for a person. Norm, or whatever he was called was easily the top guy there, so glad he’s going through. But I was most impressed with the Red Headed girl, I thought she carried herself well in the ring, perhaps more “shy” than the other two, but I was most impressed with what we saw of her in-ring work than anyone else. So I am glad she’s there. Plus awesome that so far the women are dominating.

I like that.

bluelineTNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 22/10/14

Oh how wonderful life is, when your favourite Wrestling show kicks off with Matt Hardy.

For those who have been reading this long enough might well remember my little rants about a Wee Young Jobber Blogger who would rush downstairs on Saturday mornings at 10am to catch WWF Smackdown on Sky1, in all of it’s edited for morning television glory.

What felt like every week was Smackdown kicking off with the Hardyz, and I loved it. So to have Matt still sticking around in TNA in 2014 and kicking off Impact with a Tag-Team Tournament with both himself and Jeff. Yup, I’m one happy fan!

bluelineThe Hardyz vs. DJZ and Jesse

It is a little odd having DJZ and Jesse together without Robbie E. I can see DJZ actually fitting this role of a Broman better without either Robbie E and Jesse and finding someone more “hip” styled rather than Jersey styled.

Jesse works best with Robbie, and actually I think Robbie is awesome on his own.

Little by little, DJZ is creeping up on my favourites list, I’m still not entirely there, but I’m getting there. A huge, vast improvement from the days of Zema Ion with silly hair and hair spray with ridiculous attire. He suits this much better.

The Tag-Teams dominated this week’s Impact, and I have no problem with that. Though I do get a little sick of throw together story developing Tag-Team matches, I love Tag-Team matches with actual Tag-Teams.

So a tournament is right up my alley, and having The Hardyz kick it off with a Win. It’s like going back in time. What a wonderful thing nostalgia is right?

Blind Tag – Twist of Fate – Swanton Bomb – Hardyz pick up the win.

tnahardyz

bluelineLow Ki and Samoa Joe vs. Samuel Shaw and Gunner

Speaking of throw together tag-team matches purely to further Story development. We got this match.

I’m unsure of where to stand on it. Like all kinds of on air friendships in Wrestling, they must BY LAW end up turning on each other with a video package stating how close they once were.

RoodeEyBrothers

The interesting dynamic here is Brittany, and more to the point the pairing of Shaw and Brittany, I like that idea.

Clearly Shaw was going to turn on Gunner, it just seemed to happen a little too sudden. A tiny backstage segment between Shaw and Brittany, which was the first we’ve actually seen them together in as any kind of friends.

I suppose this will evolve out into Anderson getting back involved maybe. Who knows.

Brittany grabbed Gunner’s leg who then fell victim to a kick from Low Ki right back into the clutches of Samoa Joe for the choke victory.

Then Shaw went to town on Gunner with a chair.

That right there is the money shot, I’ve never seen that side of Shaw or perhaps anyone sell beating down a guy with a chair as sadistically and deranged like Shaw did to Gunner.

I liked it a lot.

And then the unnecessary make-out rolling around the ring between Shaw and Brittany. Least they literally rolled over Gunner, which made that worth watching from an entertainment perspective.

blueline

Rebel was set to do battle with someone. I don’t remember. Did we even know? Could it have been Madison?

Havok then decided to come out and beat up Rebel. You know, taking out the threats. Like Rebel.

Yes, that is a joke.

HAHA!

Was there really anything to get? I’m not sure, it’s getting late.

Gail Kim then made her return with an injured arm, her own arm that was injured, of course. She didn’t just turn up with some severed arm. That would have been most unexpected.

gail arm

Gail took the fight to Havok and then the TNA guys in the back (and Earl Hebner) had to rush out to break up this fight. How many times have we seen this? I thought the days of security breaking up fights were over, but it appears not.

I suddenly miss D’Lo.

Also why is Earl Hebner always there? He never actually breaks up the fight, he just walks back and forth observing.

bluelineBram vs. Devon – Hardcore Match

This was scheduled earlier on in the night, but it didn’t go according to plan. Nope guess what, they had a brawl, and the TNA security (and Earl Hebner) ran out to break it up… and pace back and forth…. respectively.

Kurt booked the match, and here we have it. Bram trying to make a name for himself by picking on Hardcore Hall of Famers, now that sounds like a Reality Show waiting to happen… although it might not be about what we would hope… or maybe it is. Maybe the viewer would be the one disappointment.

tnahalloffame

All of this is to continue to build on the foundations of Bram’s success against Abyss, making him a big star, and also the contrast that places between Bram and Magnus… despite the physical contrast.

bramandmagnus

In the end it was in fact Magnus who got involved and attacked Devon from outside the ring which led to Bram picking up the victory. I’m sure this will become “I didn’t need your help to win” territory in no time, and of course right on time for the “They were once like Brothers!” Video package and inevitable grudge match.

bramandmagnus copy

bluelineMr. Anderson and Chris Melendez vs. MVP and Kenny King

It does amuse me at how little of a beating guys get in a Tag-Team match to make them need to tag out in no time, yet in a singles match, that’s just a scratch.

Anderson was beaten down and controlled though-out the majority of the match, but finally got the Tag to “Sarge”.

See, Melendez is very impressive, I get it. I think he seemed a bit better this week. But he can pull off some amazing sights given his condition, it’s awesome. But then, it’s also given his condition, which makes it a weird kind of territory to be in.

Thankfully the right team won as King had a sneaky roll up with trunks for the Win.

Right after the match however The Wolves did one of the worst “fake” promos I’ve ever seen followed by James Storm doing one of the worst promo’s I’ve ever seen by trying to convince Davey Richards to join his revolution.

I’m sure nothing will come of Storm’s strange medusa prowess on Richards, but say if it did…. it’s only a matter of time before issues between The Wolves began to surface. Then they’d be forced to run the “They Were Once Like Brothers!” Video Package and inevitable grudge match.

Yay for Tag-Teams! gunnerandshawandanderson

Shame this dream will never come true =(

bluelineEthan Carter the Third and Tyrus vs. Eric Young and Rockstar Spud

EC3 laid out the challenge earlier on in the night to Spud, but it was EC3 who did his best to get Spud fired up for this match.

Spud had his old music again, which was pretty awesome, it’s a cool theme. Only now it meets with his Chief of Staff intro.

It appears as though Spud is now full throttle Face.. another good T-shirt idea.

A new movement of “I’m With Spud”, which isn’t quite how a movement works.

I was under the impression that a movement was something that naturally got started. Now Spud has been gaining a following, but TNA put out the “I’m With Spud” T-shirt quite a while ago. Yes people cheer for him, and yes he’s being turned Face, but that doesn’t make it a movement. The fact your telling me it’s a Movement, which also happens to coincide with the merchandise your trying to sell, makes me think it’s not a Movement at all and your trying to market it to me.

Tyrus pulled out a “Heart Punch” which incidentally was made famous from old school Pro Wrestler – Ox Baker.

I won’t pretend like I knew that before watching this match, but it turns old Ox ol’Pal was in Escape from New York – which just happens to be one of my favourite movies of all time! So big kudos, much respect and RIP!

Spud did an awesome Flip from the Top Rope, then lost the match by being Chokeslammed by Tyrus.

Looking forward to seeing where Spud goes from here and I actually hope Tyrus sticks around.

blueline

TNA ended on the Contract Signing between Bobby Roode and Bobby Lashley for Match #2.

All night there was this big “surprise” which was being thrown around by TNA and Kurt backstage. Just turned out to be that Kurt has made himself the Special Guest Referee.

Which really isn’t all that exciting. Special Ref’s usually are a waste of time. However on the odd occasion having a good “authorities” figure in the ring can make for a memorable match.

I really hope Roode vs. Lashley #2 Delivers.

I’m looking forward to watching it next week.

A good solid Impact, lots of lovely Tag-Team Wrestling and a good show set up for next week!

Till then!

The Jobber Blogger #130 – TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 15/10/14

Jobber Blogger logo2

Are you proud of me? I would be, also I am be. And I am also me. It all makes sense like Lion King and the Circle of Life. Only it means reduction. Which wasn’t really mentioned all that much in the film itself, though I do remember a McDonalds toy that left little to the imagination.

lion king wrongI guess that’s more borderline bestiality than it is the Circle of Life.

Well what a way to start off issue #130 – no doubt shattering some dreams and hearts and eyes of the two people that appear to be reading this every week… or at least viewing the posts and liking them. Then not reading.

Does anyone read this?

Yes, I know you do Linda, hell I don’t re-read my ramblings anymore, look at that < spelling error.

I don’t know if there is one, I didn’t check, I just played it safe and assumed.

blueline

It appears that I’ve lost my way already, that’s pretty good for a opening Paragraph / Segment isn’t it. Shows signs of things to come. I was going to say, Are you Proud of me?

It’s Friday, creeping up to 8pm and I’m writing the Jobber Blogger! Yes folks, I’m caught up and up to date!

Which is saying something given it’s crazy Writing week when the PPV’s hit, pretty much Watch Wrestling / Write Wrestling / Watch Wrestling / Write Wrestling / Watch Wrestling / Write Wrestling then I’m back on schedule.

So how was Impact after / before Bound for Glory? I’ll tell you how it was! Because that’s what I’ve chosen to do, whether you like it or not, whether you agree or not, whether you even read it or not, I will do it! This is The Jobber Blogger and I vow to do stuff!

TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 15/10/14

I know how frustrating it may be on the days I don’t get my Jobber Blogger Blog posts Jobbering it up on a Sunday night to follow the UK Airing of Impact on Challenge. I feel your frustration, it keeps me up at night, and sometimes Linda sends me hate mail.

(You’re being featured a lot this week Linda 😉 be proud!)

Currently I’m trying to get Minecraft on my PS Vita and it’s all gone to hell! Not that I expected it to just “work” though in the back of my mind I thought “I bet this will just work, despite the fact I’m expecting it not to”.

Long story short, it doesn’t work, I own the PS3 Retail Version, supposed to recognise my save and allow Cross-Buy, BUT IT DOESN’T WORK! Now I can’t even throw money at the problem and buy it, the whole worlds gone to the poop when you can’t get things for Money! If I can’t get things for Money, why do I work! Tell me that!

You’ll be pleased to know that Impact was pretty awesome this week! I was impressed and entertained. I’d like to clarify that Bound for Glory was a really good show, I might have blurted out some more “negative” feedback of the show, it was a good show. Didn’t live up to the name of “Bound for Glory”, but that was probably more to do with the fact that it didn’t have over half of the TNA talent I want to watch on a TNA show on the PPV. No grudge matches, no decent talent, no Championship belts. It was a TNA – One Night Only – vs. Wrestle1 show.

Nothing wrong with that. Just nothing “Glorious” about it either.

blueline

Kurt Angle kicked off Impact with a whole segment to build up the Main Event the advertised last week with an announcement from Kurt Angle and a Video Package and a Mention.

So awesome to start the show by telling us what you already told us. If Sean O’ Haire were still alive, he’d be Senton’ing in his grave.

Big ups Sean O’ Haire, I am a fan. Also “I’m not going to tell you what you already know”. It was his catch phrase with the re-branded Spider Web look and awesome Entrance Music. It took place before his firing.

So… there you have it.

seano

Kurt called out Lashley, which I still kind of forget he’s the Champ, Lashley has been a good Champ though, for the times I remembered it. The second Impact kicked off it felt like TNA again, and I like Lashley a lot in the Title Picture.

Kurt seemed rather miffed that Lashley declined Roode’s Challenge for another shot at the World Championship.

Shall I go into why this annoys me? I shall!

Kurt claimed that being the World Heavyweight Champion means he needs to defend the belt whenever and wherever. Never heard of that before, it’s not his duty.

More to the point Kurt was annoyed at MVP last week for the “mess” he made and how dare he book his own matches, he’s not in charge. Despite the fact Kurt didn’t stop any of it. Now he’s annoyed at Lashley for getting involved in the Match Kurt didn’t want to take place in the first place with a stipulation he didn’t agree with, agree to, nor want to happen.

Yup, I have no idea why he was annoyed, aside from the fact that the Script says as much.

Further to the point, surely Bobby Roode who earned a shot AND LOST does not deserve to get a re-match on the basis that “I was pretty good before I lost” I don’t remember that being a “I’ve earned this” way of life.

And the final point, Surely Roode asking for another shot should annoy Kurt just as much as MVP making a match did, because Roode would have done the exact same thing. Only he would have done it with the World Championship on the line, despite the fact he already had his opportunity and Lost!

End of. Kurt makes no sense.

I’m not really that bothered, but please, just pay attention to what you Write. This is like Star Trek getting their Delorean stuck in a Worm Hole where Johnny Five accidently clicked on Quantum Leap.

startreknonsenseIt Just Don’t Make Sense!

bluelineMadison Rayne vs. Havok – Knockouts Championship

Madison is drifting on down the Heel lake once more, but this time it’s a “why wouldn’t I have done that?” rather than just being a full blown Heel. She’s the Heel people don’t like because she did the smart thing rather than the Honourable thing.

But as she said, every Knockout for herself, why would she risk injury at the hands of Havok before her Championship match to save Taryn from taking a bump. Not worth it.

Also props to Madison, I like her new Entrance, with her head down then bringing the Camera Man to go behind her and follow her down the ramp. I like that. Very cinematic.

Now I had quite the rant about Velvet putting up a good fight against Havok at Bound for Glory, I suppose in reality, this match took place first, so Velvet could have been trying to top it. Which is fair enough.

Madison also put up quite the fight against Havok, though Havok seemed far more dominant against Madison than she did against Velvet. Which doesn’t make sense. Also for Velvet as a Heel, it makes less sense for her to be “full of heart” and the underdog. Which on the flip side, is a nice thing about Madison. She’s drifting toward being a Heel, but currently she’s still a face, so she went to battle by herself and put up a good fight, not backing down.

Though I did start to question the physical health of Earl Hebner, he’s not getting any younger…. I don’t think, I don’t know his medical history, or in fact his age.

But given he works on a general Human life scale, then he’s getting older. It seemed he dosed off during this match, or at least tried to squeeze in a sneaky Nap during a pin-count.

hebnersleep

He could have been selling a kick-out though I suppose, but I think chances are he nodded off.

I joke. I kid. I can’t write anything funny….. also I laughed a bit.

Havok lifted up Madison and dropped her with the Chokeslam for the Win.

Though actually, Havok’s Chokeslam is known as the “Harlot Slayer!”

Which sounds like a Spider-Man Villain who hunts prostitutes… I like it.

harlot slayer

bluelineMagnus vs. Matt Hardy

This Makes Me Happy.

Yes, like most, some of, perhaps a couple of people, I was wondering on the future of Matt in TNA.

I know he’s not signed, this is more of a per-appearance deal, but now that the Tag-Title Series has wrapped, I wasn’t sure where he would go.

Then he popped up backstage in a promo where Magnus interrupted. Yup, it’s not really that relevant, “you’re not as good as your Brother” / “your jealous of your friend”, usual crap.

Again, as someone who is a life-long fan of the Hardyz, I can’t tell you how happy I am to see Matt in TNA, in a Singles Match, where he is “himself”.

I was looking forward to his first run, and we all know that didn’t turn out so well. So thank you TNA for giving him a chance to redeem himself. Matt’s a great talent, and is capable of a lot.

As someone who is a Fan of Magnus, but never really fully sold on Magnus, I am pleased to admit he seemed more like himself and also far better than I remember.

I literally had no idea what to expect when Magnus lifted Matt into the Power-bomb position, I thought Matt would probably do the usual punch to the face, land on his feet type of ordeal. Then I thought Magnus would just ram him back first into the Turnbuckle.

I did not expect Magnus to ram him into the Turnbuckle then actually Power-Bomb Matt onto the Ring Apron.

I don’t recall seeing that, and it looked nasty. – Nasty and cool.

The match came to an end when Matt caught Magnus’ mid dive from the Second Rope with a Twist of Fate.

The crowd seemed to have a mixed reaction to Matt’s move, I suppose it’s a fairly common thing to see now, specially that the traditional Cutter has come into play a lot recently by a lot of guys. Also I miss Matt taking his time with the Twist of Fate, seems to be more rushed, I liked the Taunt and Scream before the move.

Still, Matt’s in TNA and I love it! Hardyz vs. Bram and Magnus?

blueline

DJZ, Jesse and Angelina Love (w/ Velvet Sky) vs. Knux, Crazy Steve and Rebel

I am very happy that DJZ has the current look he does, it’s a big improvement of where he used to be pre-Bromans.

However I miss the DJ deck and annoying horn. I loved that during matches! Do more of it! All the time!

That makes sense right?

Not sure on the partnership of the Bromans and The Beautiful People. Bro’s meet Rock chicks, doesn’t seem to match.

Don’t hate it though.

Above all else, this match is best for one reason, Crazy Steve. It seems TNA are impressed with his popularity because he’s being used more and more, not only that, but rather than the being the crazy guy who doesn’t fight a lot, even lost his matches because he’s out of control and the first person to be eliminated from other bouts.

He put on a great outing in this match and displayed how much of a Credible wrestler he is without breaking or losing any aspect of his Character.

Also he won the match. Good things seem to be in his future, I think he’s got a Gimmick that can last, and transform when required.

Zema kept patting Rebel’s “rear” till Knux took him out, Steve going in for the kiss on Angelina, when Jesse broke it up with a press slam. Steve landed on his feet, jumped to the Second Rope, hit a Tornado DDT for the win.

crazy steve

bluelineTyrus vs. Shark Boy

You know, I think I preferred the wrong thing out of this match.

I can say that I was not expecting “Tyrus” – Brodus Clay to be EC3’s new Bodyguard. Also, surely Rocktsar Spud was not “employed” to be EC3’s Bodyguard. Just saying.

Still a very good and pleasant surprise, no idea if he’s sticking around in TNA, or if he’s doing a Gene Snitsky.

I could also mention Big E, but “doing a Gene Snitsky” is far funnier as a saying. That should be used… Taz you listening?

Everyone Tweet that at Taz!

doing a gene snitskyt

Either way, whether he sticks around or not, they will eventually end up fighting, it just happens, even if I don’t want it to.

TNA – Breaking the mould.

EC3 had a big old Rant about being undefeated and how he’s defeated every TNA Hall of Famer. Devon stepped up then got attacked by Bram. Which is far more interesting than having EC3 fight Devon.

So in the end, EC3 revealed he had booked Tyrus a match against TNA Legend Shark Boy.

I’ve never been a huge Shark Boy fan, but the more I think about his gimmick, the more I like it. Now having him miss his entrance and run a video backstage where they find him out of shape on a sofa stuffing Doughnuts into his Mask, I love it!

Hence what I mean, I think I was more impressed and intrigued by Shark Boy’s decent into physics defying obesity than I was the debut of Tyrus.

…… Tyrus won.

bluelineEric Young vs. Jeff Hardy vs. Austin Aries vs. Bobby Roode – Four Way Elimination #1 Number One Contender Match – World Heavyweight Championship

Now anyone who knows me and reads this, knows I love any kind of Elimination Match. I Love em!

So I was happy.

Here is something I wasn’t expecting, I really miss Jeff Hardy being in the Main Events. Now again, big Hardy fan, but I can see why he isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. I never disliked him as Champ, just you know, went a long with it. However now, after a good period of him not being in the Main Events as a main stay, I miss it.

I’ve always said Bobby Roode is the best World Heavyweight Champion of recent memory, least my favourite.

I don’t know if I’m ready for this Roode to be Champion. I enjoyed Heel Roode. I always enjoy Heel Wrestlers more, they tend to have longer Championship reigns. I feel a Heel can be a main stay, without really needing to do anything. You never “need” to turn them Face, only because your good guys are thinning out or to do something different. Heel’s tend to gain momentum on the card and with the fans. Faces decrease, and usually decrease quickly.

Currently should Roode be the Champ again, in my mind I see a good few Months run, till he ends up going against James Storm and his Revolution, where pay-back is a (you know what) and Storm gets the proper Title Run he deserves as the top heel on the show.

All four of these guys put on a great main event, timing was slightly off as EY and Hardy were setting up for simultaneous “Moonsault’s and Swanton’s” a good Album title incidentally.

moonsaultsandswantons

EY missed with the Moonsault, Jeff missed with the Swanton then both were dropped with the Roode Bomb and Brain Buster respectively then eliminated.

Roode and Aries tore it down as you’d expect, in the end Roode caught Aries from his Corner Drop-Kick and delivered a Roode Bomb to pick up the win.

All four of them then stood in the ring displaying mutual respect.

I still find it funny that Angle chose the Four Guys who Lost against Lashley, to then challenge him again.

You’d think someone else would have a shot, who perhaps hasn’t been defeated already. Not arguing. Just stating.

blueline

Good show, looking forward to Next Week’s Impact, also the Wolves announced a 8-Team Tag-Tournament to find their next challenges. Seems like a long process, but looking forward to that too!

Till then!

The Jobber Blogger #129 – TNA: BOUND FOR GLORY – 12/10/14

Jobber Blogger logo RED

Well, TNA: Bound for Glory 2014 has been and gone, with very little,… anything, really. No press, no big surprises, no excitement, it just happened.

Bound for Glory is TNA’s biggest Show of the entire Year, now Normally the Bound for Glory Series would have kept us all entertained with Bobby Roode becoming the Second ever Winner of the Series and going on to face Bobby Lashley in the Main Event of Bound for Glory for the World Heavyweight Championship from Tokyo Japan.

Team 3D, The Hardyz and The Wolves would compete for the TNA World Tag-Team Championships in Full Metal Mayhem. James Storm and The Great Sanada would battle The Great Muta and Tajiri. All kinds of awesome things could have happened, but as it turned out, didn’t.

Which left Bound for Glory rather…. different.

Boundforglorytkyo

redlineTNA: BOUND FOR GLORY – 12/10/14

I honestly don’t know how I feel about the show, it was cool to be in Japan, it was cool to have the Wrestle 1 vs. TNA, but it wasn’t by any means Bound for Glory. It didn’t and couldn’t ever compete with Slammiversary, which got huge Press and Praise across the Industry, no this was TNA doing a good solid Wrestling show from Japan, that had nothing to do with TNA, which therefore means the Moniker of Bound for Glory – the magnitude of their biggest show of the year, was lost in the Land of the Rising Sun.

redlineManik vs. Minoru Tanaka

(^^^ look at that, I’m colour themed!….. with a u!)

I’d say the biggest thing I was anticipating for Bound for Glory was to see how the Japanese crowd would react. Given what I knew previously and then what Taz and Tenay stated over Commentary, the Crowd seemed to be rather Americanised and therefore contradicted most of the traits you would expect.

Now I understand that you have to “Prove” yourself to the Japanese crowd, which as it happens, wasn’t so much the case. They preferred the TNA guys over their own home Talent, which hey, I understand. You watch the show every week, why wouldn’t you be excited to see them?

I didn’t expect Manik to be as over as he was, but the longer this match went on, the more the fans rallied behind him, which was cool to see.

Manik is a special kind of Wrestler, very talented, I know there was a lot of talk about TJ and being behind the Mask of Suicide whom has been a reoccurring face in TNA over the years with numerous people behind the mask. TJ’s has made him into his own, the re-brand of Manik helped, but re-packaging Manik to be a bit more “trendy” is no bad thing either. He certainly looks younger, but also looks far less menacing.

The Gimmicks aside, TNA have done right by letting TJ Perkins have a platform to perform on, he is a very talented guy, and this opening match with Tanaka is arguably the best on the show.

During the show there were numerous Japanese Wrestlers who stood out to me as a Fan, but Minoru’s talent easily puts him up at the top, not to mention the pairing between he and Manik was a perfect fit.

The idea of having Tanaka against Austin Aries – excites me.

The downside to this match however is that it was “so good” it set the bar higher than the rest of the card. Which is awesome if your Manik and Tanaka, not so much if your anyone else.

A whole bunch of must see action and moments and kick outs and great fast paced Wrestling that ended with Tanaka locking on a Flying Arm-Bar to gain a Tap-out Victory, put an end to the match.

I’m happy to put this up for Match of the Year Nomination. Yes, I seem to be throwing those out there now. Everyone gets one.

Also after getting half way through this Jobber Blogger, I remembered about the lovely predictions I made!

bfgwrong

I thought I would have got this one right… evidently not. Though thinking about it, I don’t know why I would have predicted Manik to win? Who knows.

redlineRyota Hama vs. Ethan Carter the Third

Crazy to think that EC3 is still undefeated, it almost seems like that was an accident, because honestly, if it wasn’t mentioned so much, I wouldn’t have remembered. He just doesn’t seem like a Undefeated kind of guy. I suppose it’s nice to see him actually fighting more Challenging opponents, but really perhaps there are too many Undefeated Streaks these days.

I don’t care if EC3 is undefeated or not, I suppose the purpose would be to get people to hate him so much, they want to see him lose. Which I’m sure they are working on.

Ryota Hama… I didn’t need to see that.

Sure he comes from a Sumo background, but then he’s pretty much Rikishi with an authentic Japanese Sumo background.

He wore the same get-up, did the whole Running “rear-end” thing and of course the Stink Face.

I know there is probably a place for the “Big Guys”, but it really doesn’t help a Wrestling show. There’s quite a limit there.

Least EC3 won, with I believe a Low-Blow, then One Percenter for the Three Count.

These are the two matches which are on the complete opposite ends of the Spectrum, the best match on the card, followed by the worst match on the card. So I guess it can only get better.

There’s perhaps some kind of “thought” in that booking.

bfgcorrectI predicted this one right though! Woo point to me!

redlineMVP vs. Kazma Sakamoto

I mentioned before that I was impressed with the Japanese talent, there are two exceptions, Ryota Hama, who I didn’t like, at all. And Kazma Sakamoto who I couldn’t give two craps about. However, I did like his attire.

This match was very, very interesting. Sure, it instantly appealed because MVP played the Comic-Book card and I instantly respect, acknowledge and won over by in a complete biased manor.

I’ve not married Comic-Books and MVP before, so for him to rock the Punisher logo was pretty cool.

To top that, MVP cut a very real promo about his love of Professional Wrestling which obviously speaks to those whom love professional wrestling, to make that better, this was a totally new side of MVP which I haven’t seen before.

There were no “storyline” elements, he wasn’t trying to be the Bad Guy, he just came out and Wrestled, he was aggressive and impressive. That’s an MVP I can get behind. I think he’s brilliantly charismatic and at home on a mic, I think he can (as everyone) get bogged down in a muddle of Storyline rubbish. But he has a lot of skills, now again, I haven’t seen MVP compete in this fashion, and it’s something I highly enjoyed.

I like the team of King and Lashley, I enjoy that very much, I think we just need this kind of style out of MVP more often, then I can absolutely see where I would place him on the card, which is what I always struggled with once he was removed from the position of “authority” on the show.

Now I’m sure Kazma has skills which didn’t translate during this one match, but I’m ever so happy MVP kicked him in the face for the Win.

Plus that Big Boot from MVP on the outside sending Kazma over the rails – awesome.

Predicted this wrong. Boo….

bfgwrong2lol…. no, just me?

redlineLow Ki vs. Kaz Hayashi vs. Samoa Joe – X-Division Championship

The only real Championship defense on the card.

And as you would expect, it lived up to what you’d want from it. I don’t know much about Kaz Hayashi, though he was good, he didn’t leave a lasting impression on me.

Low Ki and Joe brought the fight and the intensity as you would imagine, not only that but I trust in Joe to actually help the X-Division out.

I’ve been enjoying the recent matches for the Championship and I genuinely feel Joe wants to build the Division to the heights it once was. Low Ki is a great fit for that, hell all of the guys in TNA are a great fit for everything the company has to offer, the company just needs to put the time into helping the divisions.

I don’t think I’ve seen a match where the guys Slapped each other to the point that it wasn’t funny. These three brought it hard, very impactful, very intense.

In the end Joe caught Low Ki in his Rear-Naked Choke and choked him out for the Victory.

Predicted this one right, which was pretty easy.. .so doesn’t really count.

bfgcorrect2

redlineAndy Wu and Del Pantera vs. Kuroshio Ikemen Jiro & Yusuke Kodama

The only match on the card to feature entirely Wrestle 1 talent. And I’m shocked by which team won. Now granted Kuroshio and Yusuke gathered a lot of momentum and because increasingly impressive. I hate them.

I hate his stupid hair, the crap “rockstar” gimmick. It’s been done, plus I didn’t buy it, at all. It looked like a gimmick, why would his friend carry around a mirror for his egotistical pal. What’s going on.

So yeah, they just annoyed me.

However, Pantera and Wu, holy balls!

Now I don’t through around the phrase “Holy Balls” often, but right here, in this very case, Holy god damn balls!

Pantera instantly stood out and appealed to me, well, aside from being named after a Metal Band I don’t care for.

I like the quirky mis-match look, but he has some serious skill. I’ve never seen anyone just run around the ropes, literally on the ropes like this guy. I was impressed.

And Andy Wu, he was literally like a Video Game character. I know that terminology gets thrown around a lot, but he was literally like a Video Game Character. He was flipping all over the floor, flipping on to his feet, almost stopping himself in mid-air to do a corkscrew drop-kick, insane.

Now whichever one was the dude with the Long-Hair, he was also highly impressive in the later parts of the match. A standing corkscrew moonsault, forget about it. Plus his insane Senton to the floor was awesome.

So I get the push and direction yadda yadda yadda, I just don’t care the gimmick. They won though.

But I would sign Del and Wu, but maybe that’s just me.

I am impressed I predicted this match correctly, despite knowing nothing of the match, so you could say it was dumb luck given a 50/50 scenario, I’d like to put it down to my skill set… so that’s what I’m going to do. bfgcorrect3

redlineTommy Dreamer and Abyss vs. Team 3D – Street Fight

I don’t know what to say.

It was exactly what it says on the tin. I get it, Team 3D – Hall of Fame, they need a match on the card, this is what they do best, Dreamer and Abyss fit. Go time.

So I get it. It just wasn’t really anything special, or different or all that exciting. Just what you’d expect.

I guess now is as good a time as any to talk about the actual “Hall of Fame” induction. For the third year running TNA has managed to make their Hall of Fame look worse and worse.

The Talent is there, despite actually being signed to the Company.

The production of the show though, it just looks naff. It doesn’t look grand at all, which is a shame. Not only that but the speeches at these things are just terrible. Very subpar.

Team 3D deserve it, so I’m happy they are in it. They feel a better fit for the Hall of Fame than Sting and Kurt because they feel like a “We did it first” attempt. Bully and Devon have been in TNA longer than any other Wrestling company they’ve been associated with in the past. I respect that, they are TNA guys now.

I enjoyed the match though, just nothing to brag about.

The Japanese crowd surprised me with a good “Holy Sh*t” chant, and their Tables are laughable.

That is all.

I also predicated the win correctly… but who didn’t?

bfgcorrect4

redlineVelvet Sky vs. Havok – Knockouts Championship

This was some crap booking.

I like Velvet, she’s not as gifted in the ring as some Women’s Wrestlers, but she gets the job done, and is entertaining, is all you want. She’s very likable.

However, you spend a good few weeks building Havok, she dominates, pushes everyone around, lays out everyone in her path, yes multiple, multiple Knockouts. She takes out a whole bunch of Male Security guards and beats down and dominated Gail Kim – the best Women’s Wrestler in the industry and took the Knockouts Championship from her in a matter of weeks of debuting and putting Gail on the shelf in the process.

Now Velvet vs. Havok, and this match lasted more than 3minutes. Don’t buy it.

This should have been a Squash match, I know perhaps they didn’t want to do that with Velvet, but Havok should have ran right through her in no time. Then pad the match out with her beating the crap out of Velvet.

There is no way Velvet should even be able to build any type of offense on Havok. No way at all.

I am pleased that Havok worked the mid-section of Velvet and won via a Bear Hug, that shows her “power” but it should have been far easier for her.

Predicted correctly. Obviously, again, who didn’t?

bfgcorrect5

redlineJames Storm and The Great Sanada vs. Tajiri and The Great Muta

The only match on the card that had any reason and motivation behind it.

Which pretty much means that Bound for Glory existed – because of this very Main Event.

I don’t think James Storm’s revolution is built anywhere near enough to be Main Event worthy where people actually care.

Least thankfully it’s not built to be some crappy “takeover” thing at Bound for Glory…. this year.

The match was entertaining for sure, but if Muta and Tajiri weren’t spraying multiple different coloured mist everywhere, it would have been a little bit more dull.

I think they should have had the guts to let Storm and Sanada win.

And win violently and underhandedly.

As it was an awesome Double Mist from Tajiri and Muta took out Sanada who suffered the Shinning Wizard to the face and lost.

Storm and Sanada then continued the assault by bringing down Manik to help out. Which ended with Team 3D saving the day.

Which also was corny and naff.

I have no idea if Bully is even going to stick around with TNA, so this feels like borrowed time, more like a good “exit” ppv for Team 3D rather than anything else. A Hall of Fame induction, a last Hoorah match and a high to close off the show. Then that’s it.

I hope not.

Predicted it right…. but also stated it hopefully wrong!

bfgwrong3

I also hope Storm continues to build this Revolution, though now being defeated by Muta and not going back to Japan makes his quest and motivation much less irrelevant.

redline

As far as a really good Wrestling filled entertaining / interesting Wrestling show then Bound for Glory paid off.

However, being Bound for Glory was what let it down. It didn’t feel like TNA, it felt like filler.

No Championships, no Build Up, no stakes, no nothing. The show would have worked fine for anything else, other than the Biggest Show of the year.

Bring back the Bound for Glory series, or least something similar, because the Main Event isn’t the same without a decent well built Challenger, that’s what is exciting. I loved the BFG Series, mainly toward the end, but a great idea, needs a bit of fine tuning.

Hopefully TNA can get their TV Contract sorted out, get some money and one day head to Japan again for a PPV, and actually take the show over for a few nights and put the belts on the line, and create a TNA Show – from Japan.

Till then.

The Jobber Blogger #128 – TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 8/10/14

Jobber Blogger logo2I shall start this off again by Apologising for the delay in last week’s Jobber Blogger. It’s now 11:15pm on Friday, and I’m super tired, but there’s no way I can afford to get behind!

It’s Bound for Glory week, if I miss Impact for even a day it’s then all on top of me again.

blueline

Impact saw a slight, minimal increase in the Ratings this week, no doubt due to the Full Metal Mayhem match, but it really is a shame that TNA have put on these awesome matches, and they just don’t draw in the attention they should.

Personally it makes little sense to have this on a Televised show of Impact, rather than say Bound for Glory.

I know they had other plans, but moving this Full Metal Mayhem match to a PPV would have made it all that more special.

I’ve said it the last few weeks running, but the Crowds just don’t seem great, and that can really suck the energy out of a show, especially viewing it edited and obviously taped back to back.

But hey, that’s the current situation, least Impact is putting on History worth matches!

blueline

Impact Wrestling LogoTNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 8/10/14

bluelineAngelina Love (w/Velvet Sky) vs. Taryn Terrell vs. Madison Rayne – #1 Contender Match – Knockouts Championship

Okay so Impact didn’t kick off with this match, it kicked off with Bobby Roode, MVP and Kenny King, but there’s little point getting into that build up when I have to write down the match later on, so I’ll get to that a little later.

This match as it is, is more confusing.

The Winner of this match will face the Winner of the Bound for Glory match between Havok and Velvet.

It’s a little odd to throw Velvet into a match against Havok as it is, clearly because if Gail got dominated, then Velvet isn’t going to stand much of a chance.

Shame ODB is no longer with TNA because that would have been a better pairing. Even better still would be Lei’D Tapa, and hey, it might happen once she’s had a little more training.

Lei'D Tapa TrainClassic… If I don’t say so myself! 😉

It’s all a bit jumbled up, but obviously TNA only had so much time to fit in as many TV Tapings as possible before they are off Spike TV. So they’ve taped beyond Bound for Glory, hence why BFG can’t have any title matches etc, so it’s more of a One Off Special on a grand scale.

My gripe with Wrestling not being consistent with following the rules when it comes to Faces and Heels always seems to involve Angelina. Of course you could make a good argument for me being as biased as I am.

However should Angelina and Velvet have double teamed anyone in this match (though Velvet did interfere a little) Tenay would have been all over the place for such shenanigans.

Yet as it is, Taryn and Madison double teamed Angelina, and that’s just put down to “putting aside their differences).

The very phrase putting aside their differences also makes it sound like Madison is a heel, which I’m sure she is building to, given she cheated by pulling the Trunks of Taryn to get the win.

It just makes it sound like it’s more defined than it currently is. I like Madison as a face, but she probably is a better heel…. but then, aren’t most?

I don’t see anyone being a Threat to Havok anytime soon, which makes me think someone else might hiding away, like the aforementioned Lei’D Tapa.

bluelineJames Storm and The Great Sanada vs. Low Ki and Tigre Uno

So one of my absolute favourites – Tigre Uno shined as always in this match. But, what I wanted above all was for Storm to take Uno and bring him into his Revolution.

That didn’t happen… yet.

I’m still hoping, mainly just to give Uno some Air-Time.

I much prefer Sanada in his current role and look, not so much the “Muta” inspired, just a bit more toned down and edgier than he previously was.

Still have no idea why James Storm is creating brightly coloured shiny plastic wearing High Flyers. He doesn’t really “fit” with that style. But I do like his leadership, I’m still hoping for Storm to have a proper World Title run, hopefully next year sometime, and this faction could be his “rise”. Unless of course Muta and Tajiri put a stop to that at BFG. Which given the Japanese crowd, they might play it safe.

Low Ki and Uno both very impressive, it was actually nice to see Storm tangle with the High Flyers for a change, Sanada sprayed the mist at Uno leaving him open for the Last Call Superkick and the Win.

How many times have I used this now?… seriously?

bluelineSamuel Shaw vs. Bram – Street Fight

I don’t remember if they billed this match as a Street Fight or not? Doesn’t matter, many different names, all the same thing.

I actually don’t know why this match took place. I enjoyed it.

TNA is now claiming Shaw has been and Tattooed his Arms because of his connection / obsession with Gunner.

OF course anyone who remembers, will know Shaw had these Tattoo’s before. But it’s a somewhat clever way to get him out of his Dexter clothes and develop the story…. if not a little weird.

SamShawBram who is still on the rise took quite a beating in this match, which is odd. I actually don’t know who the heel is, or if they are both heels. Are we supposed to like Bram more because he’s successful, or are we supposed to route for Shaw given his redemption and connections to Gunner?

Or are we supposed to dislike them both, but enjoy the match.

I like both Bram and Shaw, and enjoyed the match. Option D…. or C. I didn’t check.

Also Math.

Also… Also.

also elmoI didn’t know Bram was married to WWE’s NXT Women’s Champion, I know Bram was released from the WWE. But it’s a cool connection. Not to mention that Charlotte – NXT Women’s Champ is also the Daughter of Ric Flair. So Bram is the Son in Law of the Nature Boy.

Kind of cool.

Bram then hit Shaw in the head with the Turnbuckle and won. Brittany wondered down to the ring and cradles Shaw’s fuzzy chop face.

bluelineBobby Roode vs. MVP and Kenny King – Handicap Match

As I mentioned at the get-go, Impact kicked off with Roode again going on about wanting “One More Match” with Lashley. Least he didn’t keep repeating it to get the Crowd chanting this week. Nothing looks more pathetic than a Guy trying to get a match after losing fair and square by “trying” to get the Crowd chanting for the same goal.

I do miss Heel Roode. I’m sure should Roode get the World Championship again, I will miss Heel Roode all the more.

It will also mean he won’t have the belt for very long – good guy champions are rather boring…

MVP still speaking for Lashley turned down Roode’s attempts for a Re-match once more. But instead from the aid of Kenny King added this stipulation and match – should Roode beat them both, he gets a Title Shot, if not, he can never Wrestle for the World Championship again. Which Roode agreed to… sounds smart.

Clearly Roode wasn’t going to lose this match, and I’m glad Lashley came out and DQ’d King by beating up Roode. Makes it much better, and much more interesting.

What was far funnier was Kurt Angle’s little backstage segment with MVP stating that MVP doesn’t run the show anymore. Given that this was toward the end of Impact, I question the logic of if Kurt Angle was even running the show!

Given that he wasn’t there at the start, or even during the match, he clearly wasn’t paying too much attention.

Roode technically took the win by a DQ, but none of the stated Stipulations took place as Angle set a Number #1 Contenders Match for next week.

bluelineEthan Carter the Third and Spud continue to develop their little break up.

Spud himself as stated that he was so happy TNA gave him the chance to re-invent himself with this Chief of Staff role for Dixie Carter. I was sure Spud was going to get fired sooner or later, we barely saw him on TV, I think he maybe had two, three matches tops and really didn’t seem like a good fit. He said the same thing about himself, which I admire.

But thank god he had the chance to be the Chief of Staff, because Spud has been a highlight in TNA ever since.

As I said last week, I don’t know the longevity of a Spud face turn, I’m not sure it would be the same should he not be a heel character. But I can totally get behind him against EC3, in terms of being bullied and Spud’s little defiance turn.

Spud eventually Slapped EC3, but then EC3 fired Spud from his services. I just thought, should EC3 and Spud face one another, I think EC3 should beat him down, badly, but in a “good effort” kind of way.

bluelineThe Hardyz vs. Team 3D vs. The Wolves – Full Metal Mayhem – World Tag-Team Championships

Was this series better than Beer Money vs. Motor City?

Honestly I don’t remember that Series amazingly well, but I would say yes. Only given the heights of the series and the participants.

I didn’t make any notes, only as to who won.

The Wolves retained their Championships, which I think is fitting. I’d have liked to see The Hardyz with the belts, and I hope that actually happens. But really, Team 3D should have won if the titles were going to change hands.

But putting over The Wolves was the right move.

The only thing that taints this match was the fact we know it was Taped and that the Crowd just wasn’t electric enough as you’d like.

The match itself – phenomenal.

The very first Full Wrestling PPV I watched as a regular Wrestling fan was SummerSlam 2000 – the very first TLC Match, and that PPV will always be special to me. The Hardyz have been my favourites since I got into Wrestling, to have them and 3D to do this again, 14 years later, is crazy.

It might have been 14 years, but the level of the match, the intensity of the match, was right up there with the best.

Which is also depressing, this Match is worthy of being Remembered in Wrestling History, so many of TNA’s matches are. But will they ever be?

It’s hard to say, I really hope so. If TNA ever go under, I really hope the WWE buy out their tapes just to have it on Record.

Can I sit back and say that this match, was THE match of the year. No.

But it’s definitely the front runner, and I can’t wait to go back and re-watch it!

This is the Wrestling I grew up Loving, with 80% the exact Same guys, and I love that.

bluelineSo that’s another Impact, yet again a Solid show with a Fantastic Main Event. But it does seem no matter what they put on, TNA just drags along at the same level it’s always at.

Which is a shame, it really is.

Bound for Glory is this Sunday, I will do my best to get it Written up for Wednesday!

I’d like to do the “Predictions” segment for the PPV’s, and I shall, but obviously it’s not really a Storyline driven PPV, and it features 40 – 50% of talent I don’t know.

The Great Muta & Tajiri vs. James Storm & The Great Sanada

– James Storm and Sanada win – (least I hope, probably wrong)

Samoa Joe vs. Low Ki vs. Kaz Hayashi – X-Division Championship

– Samoa Joe retains.

Ethan Carter III vs. Ryota Hama

– EC3 win

Team 3D vs. Abyss & Tommy Dreamer

– Team 3D Win

MVP vs. Kazma Sakamoto

– Kazma Sakamoto win

Manik vs. Minoru Tanaka

– Manik win

Havok vs. Velvet Sky – Knockouts Championship

Andy Wu & El Hijo del Pantera vs. Jiro Kuroshio & Yusuke Kodama

The Jobber Blogger #126 – TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 24/9/14

Jobber Blogger logo2

I think this is the first Jobber Blogger in some time that has been late, but guess what people, I’ve been busy! So it does happen.

I myself only managed to watch Impact last night, and though I did think about attempting the second “Watch and Write” issue, I just wanted to take it easy and relax!

Probably a good choice, as it has calmed my initial rage from watching Impact, but the more I think about it, the more it’s coming back! Isn’t that exciting!? Yes it is!

Impact Wrestling LogoTNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 24/9/14

blueline

So TNA is Total Nonstop Mess right about now. Everything is in crazy land, I don’t know if everyone who reads this is aware, but I shall let you in on what is happening without spoiling anything.

TNA have changed the landscape drastically, yes this concerns all of their Championships, the reason because they don’t have many guys left on Contract, least not a long term contract. Long term being any point to Summer of 2015, which is only a short window as it is.

So they have put the belts on those who are sticking around till at least then, which gives them some wiggle room should people decided to leave TNA rather than do the Pay-By-Appearance method.

I get it, current problems, no TV deal, everything is up in the air. But what this means, is that come Bound for Glory – most of the people you want to watch on the Show, and the matches with the Belts to be defended, yup, that won’t be happening.

Apparently the Japanese audience will be greatly offended and confused should they turn up to Bound for Glory without knowing what’s happened and everything won’t make sense.

TNA have ramped up their TV Tapings to cover to the end of the year I believe, or least will do by the time they get to Bound for Glory. Which means the BIGGEST PPV of the Year, the first time it’s taking place out of the United States, will feature no big matches, no big championship matches and be completely out of sync to what you watched on Television.

Which does beg the question – what’s the point.

This will be like a Special PPV or a “One night Only” TNA in Japan PPV rather than Bound for Glory.

I think they have announced some titles will be defended, I didn’t read, I don’t want to know the spoilers.

This brings us to the bigger problem, 2 Months worth of Impact Tapings packed with “Filler” moments and mainly Video Packages.

Which makes this week’s Impact the first of many to come, and I hereby announce it the start of TNF – Total Nonstop Filler.

I suddenly miss Hogan.

MVP vs. Low Ki

“Kurt Angle” had this great idea of a Gold Rush tournament. Now, I actually like the idea, I don’t like how it was tacked on.

It’s a shame this week’s Episode felt like a Televised House Show, because the Matches were actually excellent.

What I didn’t like was sitting through Video Packages of Last Week, then a stupidly long Video of MVP, then MVP taking a full length entrance, plus a Promo.

Low Ki then got his entrance, then a Video Package of Low Ki – yes the same one we saw recently. Then the match, which took 7 mins to get to.

If I wasn’t a committed TNA fan, I would have turned it off by now.

On the plus side, we had MVP vs. Low Ki. I don’t dislike MVP but I certainly don’t see this “massive potential” in the guy either. I think next to Low Ki he quickly looks a bit basic.

What I did like was MVP challenging Low Ki to the chops, which he delivered, to the point of actually making his Chest Bleed.

Low Ki had an impressive outing but MVP got the win with his “Drive By” kick.

Despite what I might have just said about the two guys, I do think MVP taking the win is the right call.

Robbie E vs. Tajiri

Robbie E had one of the very few backstage segments this week as he bragged out “dating” Velvet Sky and then being on the Amazing Race with Brooke, who we haven’t seen in Months, who he really is Dating. So I hope Brooke comes back and they let her and Robbie be an on air couple, I’m guessing the Amazing Race is a big deal? I don’t even know what it is.

I like Robbie E, I like him a lot, always have. I think he’s good at playing the joker, but he’s actually a very talented Wrestler and entertainer, so i was pleased to see him hold his own against Tajiri.

I also take back what I said about Tajiri, guy is impressive and very much on point. I can’t seem to take him seriously though. I almost look at him as if he’s not a real Wrestler, but I do think that’s because he was portrayed badly in the WWE for so many years.

Tajiri hit the Mist to the face of Robbie E and followed it up with a nice kick to the head for the Win.

Doubt Tajiri is sticking around much after BFG, but I’d like to see The Bromans be used a lot more, they are sticking around and they are good Talents.

blueline

Austin Aries vs. Knux

This was a match I didn’t expect to be going into my Match of the Year nominees. But hey, a Wrestling match is about great Wrestling, great crowd interaction and to mix them both together, you create the magic that is – emotion.

Aries and Knux put on a great showing and I don’t think I’ve ever seen Knux perform the way he did when he was against Aries. I think Knux is due some screen time, as is The Menagerie, I do like them and I freakin love Crazy Steve!

Aries muscled Knux up and dropped him with the Brain Buster for the win , so seriously, if you didn’t watch this match, watch this match!

It’s just yet another example that Austin Aries is the absolute best, no matter who he works with, you’re getting something special. He is literally as Legit as they come – and that’s why people love him. As long as he’s on the Payroll – he should be in the Main Events – that simple.

AustinAriesthebest

bluelineMagnus vs. Mr. Anderson

After dragging Magnus through some crap he didn’t need, it finally felt like Magnus was back to his “old self” again.

Though I do think he’s maybe a little dull at times.

Which means on the flip side – Anderson is far from Dull, if only at times lacking motivation, or least comes across that way.

Anderson is a guy who has great potential, he just needs support and a platform to do what he does best, and that’s be himself.

When he came back and had issues with Bully and Dixie – that felt exciting, the start of something new! But it didn’t last, they didn’t build it. I fully believe Anderson could be the key to something quite different, or if not vastly “different” from what we’ve seen, he certainly could be the key to something sorely lacking.

Another good solid match which saw a rather good counter into the Mic Check – which I still think is a naff move.

gaymagnus

bluelineAbyss vs. Samuel Shaw

Abyss is finally looking better. I’m not a big fan of his new attire and mask, the Coat is alright, but now he’s hair come back a bit longer and he’s got a good beard going on – it suits the look.

I didn’t really get into his newer Theme Song – but thinking about it, that Theme might suit this current look better than his traditional one.

I’m just hoping Abyss gets another revamp and used stronger. I think it’s the same comment for most of the Roster – So much potential, just never used.

I like the pairing between Abyss and Shaw and that might even unfold in a good development down the line (hopefully).

Shaw managed to hit in a sneaky Chair Shot but fell victim to the Blackhole Slam right away and Abyss took the win. Abyss Phone

bluelineAustin Aries vs. MVP vs. Tajiri vs. Abyss vs. Mr. Anderson

This feels like a Filler Jobber Blogger. Again, it’s not like this was a “BAD” show, it had some awesome matches. It just lacked the atmosphere and planning, it felt rushed and “it’ll do” to fill a week.

I honestly hope that they don’t do this for every week from now till January.

If they had put a little more into this show and produced it better it would have been fantastic with these matches that really bounced out at you.

It just didn’t take off as a show, the crowd seemed to have thinned out toward the end, which I’m not means they taped the matches at different shows, or literally people just left.

But as someone who has sat through multiple TV Tapings, it does wear a little thin.

It just felt like a house show.

Not much more to say about this match, I think if this was promoted a little better and produced a lot better, the tournament would have been really engaging.

I love tournaments.

Least it all ended in a great outcome- Austin Aries.

Aries takes the Win of this Gold Rush tournament and then next week he gets to chose what Title he wants to Challenge for.

interestingangle

bluelineAlso in the show they filled it out with a Ladder match recap, a billed World Title Fall out which was the exact same Video Package they ran at the top of the show that just highlighted the main event. So it wasn’t a fall out, it was a clip reel.

To say this was the very last show of their “amazing” Summer in the City, why didn’t they run Video Packages of all the awesome moments that took place during the tapings in New York.

Dixie going through a Table, the World title matches, the Tag-Team Championship Series, Chris Malendez, Havok, lots and lots of material that could have made the show feel more meaningful.

Next week we finally get a new setting as TNA goes back to Pennsylvania.

Honestly, I miss the Impact Zone, I miss the stage, I miss the fireworks, I miss the production level.

Sure it was filled with Holiday goers and old people who obviously took a wrong turn, but it was special, it was “impactful”, it was TNA.

To think nearly 4 years ago TNA was about to explode, and it did for a short time. Since then it’s been going downhill, and now 4 years later, it seems to be falling apart.

Long Live TNA!

Here’s to a Revival in 2015!

Ah hah!

I actually remembered to follow up with my Predictions List! Yes, this makes everything much better and far more entertaining!

Also this happens to be the second time I remember to do it. So yay? The first was when Anderson had the “Committed” match with Shaw. When the hell was that?

No Surrender was pretty good, and TNA has been pretty damn good of late as it is. Even more praise is shooting out the kazoo for their latest Impact Tapings.

So kudos, and kazoodos for kicking off the Televised special with a Wrestling Match! You wouldn’t think it was that hard to get right, would you?

kazoo

I made the prediction that Havok would be the smart money to bet on, I was right. Too bad I went with Velvet huh?

Despite the chances in this match, it was really just to give Havok an exhibition. I don’t dislike her. I like to poke fun with the Disco Bane and Skrillex comments, but hey, makes me laugh. Isn’t that why I write this thing every week, to make myself laugh!? Of course it is.

discobane

Rebel takes a hard landing to the floor rolling down the Steel Steps, despite her not really being ring ready, on the ground of her breaking her arm. She does have a good look and seems to enjoy throwing herself down some steps. So, the future is bright?

However, her doing the splits to dodge, though “different”, highly impractical.

How’s that for journalism.

Kenny King vs. Chris Malendez

This was an awkward impromptu match.

Here’s why this annoyed me. MVP and Kenny King headed to the ring to call out Malendez, to then give him this great opportunity of Carrying luggage.

Why was that scripted?

Why waste time with that crap? Malendez needs some work on the mic, but hey, first time. I can let that slide.

Then we immediately hit the territory, just like that. King goes on about how he’s only got one leg, go back to “Boot Camp”, blah blah blah.

Now I’m not going to pretend like I’m offended, because I’m really not. What bugs me is that Malendez gets the sympathy vote, I’m sure that’s the last thing he personally wants. Having someone who is obviously not a fit for the Wrestling business, be written as a Character who is not fit for the Wrestling business, who has people mock him, and then beat the crap out of him.

Why would you sign the guy?

You signed the guy because he’s impressive, because he’s 6ft plus, he has a good look, he’s strict, trained, a War Hero.

Don’t let him be an idiot who casually walks out to meet the bad guy and offered jobs of lackeys, then gets made fun of then beaten down.

The only people that wins over, are those who feel sorry for him. I feel sorry for him, it’s a horrible, horrible accident, but what empowers that, is his stride to overcome it.

What I don’t feel sorry for, is someone getting into the Wrestling business to suck ass at it. Again, I know he’s being Written this way, but how am I supposed to get on board with that, that doesn’t reflect on the sympathy angle where I cheer for him because “He’s very good, given his disability”. When you could have people cheer for him because “He’s Very Good”.

The entire match was Malendez getting the crap kicked out of him by Kenny, till in the end he Managed a roll up and won, then got beaten up even more.

Yay, this guy sucks! Well done TNA on signing someone who sucks, again!

This is my point, you tell me how good he is, you show me clips of how he can wrestle, you put Bully, Devon, Anderson and Kurt’s stamp of approval on him, then you write his character so he sucks and can’t defend himself.

What am I supposed to take from that?

Anderson came to the rescue, so I guess this is a learning curve type of thing. So who knows. But it’s TNA, so I can take a pretty damn good guess.

blueline

Homicide vs. Samoa Joe – X-Division Championship

I’m going to say it, the fact that this match took place, is ridiculous.

Sure, back in the day Homicide was a “guy” in the Division, but he’s never been great. Now you’ve got guys who are great, and they’ve been passed up literally for months to cater to the “Home field” advantage by bringing in crowd favourites to bury your talent.

Wow, you hired this awesome Luchador from Mexico, you’re right, he’s incredible. But he sucks compared to “Blam Blam” Homeboy I can do a freakin flip, Homicide.

He’s not even signed with you. So you use him to bury the guys you have signed to your roster.

Here’s a thought, screw the home field advantage and build your talent.

Guess what, Samoa Joe isn’t from New York, but people love him. Crazy Steve has barely done anything or given any screen time, and they love him too.

People respond to Tigre Uno because he’s so impressive in the ring. Give him the time.

Also lol –

homicideblamblamhomeboyI told you I make myself laugh.

Speaking of things that make me laugh, Tenay and Taz plugged the next round of Impact Tapings by saying “You can see yourself on TV!”

Which is one of two things, or in fact, both things!

Your struggling to sell tickets so you add in the extra boost of people being on TV, which is a poor, poor way to sell your product.

And number two, in a related sense, there will be so little people attending the TV Tapings, that you are Guaranteed to see yourself on Television.

Just saying.

Blam Blam hit a Cutter on Joe and didn’t win, thank fully. I hate the Cutter. But I also Love the Cutter. DDP was the guy, Orton uses it well, Bully pulls it out here and there. It bugs me when people use the same finishes. Least it’s not as annoyed as Taryn using it, but whatever.

The only good thing from Homicide using the Cutter is that Joe countered it into a joke – mid air, and won the match.

James Storm, Sanada and the new Super Manik then crashed the segment.

There is no reason, at all, for James Storm to be re-designing the X-Division as Cultural Luchadores.

My only hope is that Tigre Uno might actually get some better TV Time.

The Hardyz vs. Team 3D vs. The Wolves – Ladder Match

Again, fairly obvious who was going to Win this match.

The first match in the Series, was freakin awesome! The Tables Match, wasn’t as good, still good, just not as good as I had hoped.

But then I always find Tables Match lack. They really aren’t all that exciting unless quite a few Tables are used. Hence my moan at only one member of the Team going through a Table. Which means people have to put themselves through a few tables, or they introduce other weapons to make them more entertaining.

However, Ladder Matches can be fantastic on their own. And also work better with more weapons.

If a match is So Good, you should just watch it.

There’s nothing I can say to do it justice, so just watch it.

This match was awesome, best in the Series so far and I will put into the Match of the Year Nomination, however! I might also take it out given on how good the final match in the Series is, and people are saying IT IS AMAZING!

Super hyped!

Sucks it’s not at BFG though.

The Wolves pick up the win.

predictwonnoface blueline

Bram vs. Gunner

This match happened.

Not sure why they put it between the top two matches of the card.

Earlier on in the night Gunner told Shaw that Brittany has a thing for him, to which he replies “My mind is already occupied with someone else”.

Billy and Chuck, I’m telling you.

gunnerandshawandanderson

Gunner “injured” his knee, Shaw went crazy and got involved, accidently clothesline’d Gunner and Bram picked up the win.

Despite the crap story with Gunner and Shaw, Bram’s rise to the top is quite interesting. They keep pushing how good he is. And guess what, I believe it. Because he’s impressive, he wins, he fights, he doesn’t back down. Not like Malendez, who gets his ass kicked because he politely turned down being a lackey! Why would I like that!!!?

blueline

Bobby Roode vs. Bobby Lashley – World Heavyweight Championship

I wonder if Lashley will be called Bobby again now?

Another thing that goes through my head is wondering what Roode was thinking when he decided to wear some crappy looking sex jacket to the ring.

His Robe was awesome. It worked. This looks terrible.

Something else that is pretty damn awesome, is Lashley’s new music. I’ve always liked it, but I enjoy how it just changes the mood. He feels like a force. I like that.

Which brings me to what I really, really don’t like.

Lashley rolls out the ring and MVP calls for a Time-Out, and the ref lets them have it. MVP and King wipe his face, and continue to get involved.

Lashley should not have these guys outside for him. He’s supposed to be this beast, he’s supposed to be unstoppable.

When you give him help, he looks weak. He shouldn’t be booked weak. You shouldn’t have his friends wiping his face! No!! That’s just No….Nooo!! NOOO!!

NooooooooooooFanHe’s even doing a Face-Palm… could it get any better!

Do you know what I do like, is the Roode Bomb. I enjoy the move, but I detest the name.

Utterly stupid name for a super cool move.

What makes it cooler is Roode using it to “Roode Bomb” Lashley right to the floor, and Credit to Lashley for taking it, literally right to the floor. Looked really painful, and also really cool!

In the end though Roode leap frogged Lashley’s attempted Spear and “injured” his leg, to which Lashley then speared him and won.

I don’t know quite where to place the match.

The match was really good! Really good! But it’s not so memorable. I also feel this isn’t done yet.

Which means!

predictwonnoface

I knew Lashley was going to win well before this match was going to take place, EY spoiled it in an interview I read. So technically the Prediction doesn’t count!

blueline

Right now, I’m in the mood for Bound for Glory.

I want a great PPV just like Slammiversary was.

Though with all the problems in TNA right now, the booking, change arounds, no matches are really being built for the Biggest show of the year, in Japan of all places. The only thing they are building is James Storm’s revolution.

Who knows.

Till then.

I’ve never really been that into South Park. I can respect Matt and Tray, I like their thinking and stance. Not so much their humour.

But if there is one thing they got right, it’s:

america

The best way to poke fun at how much Americans love themselves. I will be honest, I sort of sucks that the majority of the UK really isn’t that patriotic. UK and USA are two vastly different things to Chant.

I suppose though, when this episode of Impact was filmed, it would have aired on September 11th, in New York. So that’s cool, I get it.

I can understand the thinking of American Hero’s, and War Hero’s, but a lot of the time, you only hear negative things. What makes one of these guys a Hero? So many good Men and Women serve, but the ones who get injured or traumatized seem to be those that are worthy of Heroism.

I’m not going to kick off the Jobber Blogger by saying anything too much on that subject, but of course this all plays into the opening of the show, which as it is, has a lot of problems.

Chris Malendez vs. DJ Z

Under no circumstances can TNA convince me they Signed Malendez because he’s a great Talent, they signed him because of the reputation, the media and the publicity that goes a long with it.

Chris’ story is awesome, I think he’s hugely admirable. But I just can’t see a bright future for him. I’m not sure how long he’s signed to TNA for, but I would be surprised if he’s still around by the time his contract his up.

A one legged Wrestler, makes headlines, a one legged American Hero draws attention.

So let’s not beat it round the busy anymore shall we, is Chris Malendez impressive, simple, Yes.

But why.

He’s only impressive because of his limitation. Now if he had two legs, he wouldn’t have been anywhere close to working with TNA.

Let’s be fair shall we, his current in ring skill is based on his condition, and it is great. As someone who Hated Zack Gowen, I like Malendez. I think he has a good look, he’s impressive, agile, strength, awesome tattoos, cool music.

But to be able to Defeat DJ Z with a Samoan Drop, nope, not happening.

There is no way, At All that Malendez would ever be capable of defeating anyone on the TNA Roster. Just not possible.

For a “Sport” that struggles enough to find legitimency, adding a guy with a Winning Streak with one leg who really can’t Wrestle anywhere close to the Level of the TNA Roster, that just pisses me off.

I’m not trying to make this personal. I love his story, he seems like an awesome guy. Totally happy for him. But there is no way you can put him in the ring with Austin Aries, and expect that to be a great match. He wouldn’t be able to compete with him. DJ Z hit a Chop Block, it’s already looked as “Such a Heel move!” because he has one leg, it’s freakin’ Wrestling.

Imagine Aries running Circles around him, drop kicking him on the floor, diving over the ropes at him, he wouldn’t be able to do anything, and yet Malendez might beat him, with a Samoan Drop?

I noticed some of the padding fell off his False Leg, Gowen Wrestled without his prosthetic, a giant thick Metal Pole might cause some Damage for a guy who lands on it. Or has it land on them.

That seems like an accident waiting to happen.

Also I said this last time, but Bully and Devon’s Wrestling School, given the talent who has come from it that turned up in TNA, they need better training.

So Malendez beat Zema, which just shouldn’t happen. I get the “push”, but you only push him so far. Or by all means, push him up against Bobby Lashley, see what happens then. I seem to remember Lesnar obliterating Gowen. So you can copy that Storyline.

Samoan Drop my ass, he would have landed harder on a Back Drop, and no one loses on a Back Drop!

bluelineBobby Roode, Eric Young and Samoa Joe vs. MVP, Kenny King and Bobby Lashley

A nice 6man Tag to build up some much needed speed between Roode and Lashley’s collision next week.

Speaking of things I can do without, is the “tip toeing” around between Roode and EY. They’ve not ran the Video Package of “They were once like Brothers!” but you better believe it’s coming.

RoodeEyBrothers

It was literally a few months back when Roode and EY started building this “mutual respect” thing before Roode’s face turn. All on the heels of their history, Team Canada mainly, and that they’re both Canadians. And in case if you forgot, in Canada, a Deal is a Deal!

Welcome to Canada

Roode and EY are throwing around “You’re my Best Friend” in a bucket of sick love more than Barney the Dinosaur.

I can’t stand it. Why are you pushing this so much? If it’s anything like, oh I don’t know, EVERY OTHER TIME! TNA have pushed friendship, one of them is going to turn on the other. At this rate, it looks like EY might have an issue with Roode. Then we shall get the “They were once like Brothers!” Video Package of Bobby Roode screaming “You were my best friend!” which sobbing into a wet fish…. with a beard.

roodefish

The Line that made you Face Palm with your inner palm was Roode saying “EY, you will always be a World Champion to me!”

I bet Roode himself cringed when he read that script.

It pisses me off, it’s like TNA feel this need to pander to the audience so much because they are mainly thick!

Stop telling me the same thing! I got it from them hugging and knowing history, sorted. I don’t need them to tell me it again, and again and again, whilst the announcers and video packages repeat it for me. If they had their way Roode and EY would be kissing each other on the cheek, slapping each others’ ass and getting Married like Billy and Chuck.

billyandchuckseano

Okay so I’m have a good ranting session this week, it brings out my best material.

Guess what else pissed me off, Roode giving Lashley the “My heart is bigger” speech.

Let’s see, He’s Bigger, Tougher, Stronger, Faster, but the fact you can withstand his onslaught longer makes you think you will win? No, it means you will get your ass kicked just that little bit longer, before you inevitably lose.

Roode was such a good heel, now he’s becoming the whining do goody, Baby face that likes your favourite Ice Cream, Saturday night Television and Cuddles!

The crowd was good.

Roode won by defeating MVP with his Roode Bomb… the worst named Finisher going. It’s not even a Bombing type manoeuvre.

The Bromans and Velvet Sky vs. Knux, Crazy Steve and Rebel

Do you know what this booking means.. ROB TERRY SUCKS!

Rob Terry Train

I don’t like Rob Terry, I don’t like the pairing of The Bromans with the Beautiful People (though I suspect they are out for their own motives), or that they will split and The Bromans will choose Bro’s over Ho’s. Probably happen.

This is the first time we’ve seen Rebel wrestle. She’s not good. To make matters worse she recently broke her arm. Apparently she’s very under trained. Which is a shame, I like her with Knux.

Which brings us to the best bit!

crazysteve

Now I believe he’s probably much better in the ring than we’ve ever seen. But the Character, is awesome. He makes it work, and he’s just on a whole different level. Knux, Terry, Rebel, all quite easily could be fired tomorrow and the entire Menagerie thing can carry on just fine without them.

Aside from the fact that the whole meaning of the name is a group of course.

Velvet picks up a win by holding the trunks of Rebel… too much.

blueline

EC3 vs. Rhino – Street Fight

I cannot believe that I just wrote “Street Fish!”

I’ve corrected it of course, but the fact my instinct went to Fish, amuses me greatly.

streetsharks

I suppose a Street Fish is pretty much a Street Shark, and they were awesome.

This whole thing kicked off with Kurt Angle, Mr. Fish himself, with his puckered up sucker lips.

Kurt Fish

Angle has never felt genuine, or real in his entire run as the Executive Director. He sounds so de-motivated that I just don’t believe a single word out of his mouth.

Things like “I…look..forward..to…being…here…each…..and…….ev…er..y weeeeeeek”.

I got bored typing that.

What I did like however was the whole “You don’t look like you’re ready to Wrestle.. good, I won’t make you… it’s a Street Fight!” Or fish, I’m easy.

The match was what it was.

Thankfully EC3 won, this whole thing is putting over EC3 more than anything else. Was that the point?

The crowd seemed to be enjoying cheering for him too. Hey, whatever, Rhino sucks.

I get the thinking of Rhino being a New York guy, given his ECW heritage. But when you put him as a mindless idiot, even if he decides he wants to eat a guys Ass (his words, not mine), no body cares, because you booked him as a mindless idiot.

There’s only one thing I want to see now, is that mindless idiot get his ass kicked. So I’ve enjoyed it.

blueline

The new Knockouts Calandar is now a Storyline, so that’s exciting. Nothing sets the Knockouts Division apart from the Divas more than letting them post for a Calander in their skimpiest clothes then fall out with each other over who is prettier and petty jealousy.

That worked wonders.

And just like you would suspect, Velvet and Angelina are having issues again. Why, dear lord, why, do they need to be this way? Why does it have to be Angelina forcing herself as the dominent one. Why can’t they just be bad together.

I hate that.

Clearly Angelina is the leader, because it’s a Wrestling business and Velvet struggles to run the ropes, let alone anything more complicated then that. Case closed, facts are facts people.

ODB is in the Calandar.. but not the Company. Flaw number one.

Brooke is in the Calander, not seen her in how long?

Then Disco Bane crashed the party with some of that Dubstep’z and stole Gail’s Knockouts Championship. Which led them to fight each other for a while.

Also Bane beat up some guys, Taz seemed suprised. I do like the fact that they picked the skinniest guys around. Not really head turning levels of impressive.

Could be worse though, she could be Chyna. Come to TNA for one match, fall over whilst picking up Jarrett then leaving right away to go back to Porn…. and look like a man.

Wow… I’m brutal this week! I like it!

blueline

James Storm and The Great Sanada vs. Austin Aries and Tajiri

I always thought some objects, tools and lark would be universal. Like a Spanner, it would still be Spanner in a different country, just a different name, same job.

Yet apparently in Japan their tools are a little different. Evidently their Buzz Saws must be rather slow, dull, out of shape and boring.

“You still got it!” – Funny, I don’t remember a time when he had it.

The great leader James Storm, who won his first match in ages by being on the Winning team, seems like an odd fit for the character he’s playing.

Again, I like the idea behind it. I just don’t like the execution. I don’t think the Silver Bathrobe and Beer Bottle make Storm look like Revolutionary Leader. He looks like a Drunk who got a shower in his robe.

blueline

Team 3D vs. The Hardyz vs. The Wolves – Tables Match

Another good match, but still not on the Level I’m looking for.

I hate to say it, but Matt really seems a step behind everyone else and it’s rather noticeable.

My originally prediction was quickly turned around when I realised the pattern. Which now means, it’s less impressive.

The Wolves are going to win in the Ladder Match next week, then I imagine we will have Full Metal Mayhem, combining the Tables and the Ladders. Much like how TLC was put together originally.

This isn’t really a problem, only that you know who will win. But you don’t know, is who will win the actual match that matters, which would be the final one.

Another thing I dislike about Tag-Team Tables matches, is that One guy needs to go through a Table. I get that it can get rather confusing after a while, but both guys need to go through a Table for a match to be won. That’s the best way to do it!

The Hardyz picked up the win with Jeff dropping a Swanton from the top rope to the floor putting Eddie through a Table.

Also how naff do the Wolves look now, losing twice, and Eddie being the deciding factor both times (I believe).

Jeff climbed up a Ladder whilst Matt dragged his sorry ass as high as he could, out of breath, panting he issued the Challenge for next week.

I forgot to do this segment the last few times, so let’s drop it like it’s hot.

If the Knockouts Battle Royal is for the Championship then Gail will Win.

If it’s a Number One Contenders.. the smart choice would be Havok, but I will go with Velvet.

Samoa Joe will retain, it’s insulting to think any other way.

The Wolves will win.

Bobby Lashley will win.

The Jobber Blogger #121 – TNA: HARDCORE JUSTICE – 20/8/14

Jobber Blogger logo2

We’re getting intimate in this issue, it’s you and I reader, 1 2 1.

Or in other terms, it’s issue #121, but who cares? I like to be tantalising.

Speaking of things being Tantalising, what a mess TNA is in huh?

Bully Ray wants out because TNA just can’t negotiate his contract, and he’s said to not be the only one. With TNA’s TV Negotiations with Spike being up in the air, they can’t even think about re-signing any of their bigger named stars.

So that leaves us where?

TNA has brought back the Six Sided ring and done their best to push the product, but it’s not sticking.

Jeff Jarrett left, AJ Styles has gone, Bad Influence has gone, Chris Sabin has gone, Sting has gone, Hogan, Bully Ray claims to be leaving, Kurt Angle wants out. Tons of backstage personnel have left.

Spike TV is currently cancelling Impact.

Awesome.

Not to mention there is a major concern with Bound for Glory this year as it takes place in Tokyo, apparently the event isn’t even being plugged.

It will be a big arena.. with no one in it. Least the Japanese audience have the reputation of being “silent” so hey, it might not be noticeable. That’s called looking at the glass half full folks!

tnajapan

Another dumb thing TNA have done is the Hall of Fame. A company that hasn’t been around more than 15 years has its own Hall of Fame. It’s blatantly and painfully obvious they just want to induct those the WWE will no doubt induct down the line. Hey, its their money right?

But after 2014 is all and done with, what will TNA’s Elite Hall of Fame look like?

tnahalloffame

The very people that should be in a TNA Hall of Fame are still actively in their prime, and also don’t work for the company.

Whatever it is, TNA just doesn’t work. It’s as simple as that, it just feels like it’s a matter of time. They’re pushing it out there, and it’s just slipping through their fingers, one day, in a year or more, sooner or later, TNA will eventually close its doors at this rate.

The ironic thing is the guy who loved TNA more than anyone else, wasn’t allowed to have control, so he left, being Jarrett. That set off a string, with the likes of AJ Styles most importantly wanting out.

Now here we are, Bully Ray being the top guy, a Locker-room leader, talking high praise of TNA, rallying up the guys in the back, letting them know TNA is a secure place to work. Now he wants out too.

I thought Jarrett was storyline, I thought AJ would be storyline, now Bully seems to be storyline, but I’m sure that’s because they need an exit strategy.

It’s called Dixie Carter, who will be the death of TNA – but more on that later.

TNA: HARDCORE JUSTICE – 20/8/14

Yes, it was the return of Hardcore Justice! Which didn’t feel like a PPV, but they’re not supposed to anymore. What is an interesting fact, is that Tommy Dreamer, Rhino, Al Snow, Bully Ray and Devon all Hardcore guys, all from ECW, all in New York, on a show All About Hardcore! And none of them had a match. So that was nice.

bluelineBram vs. Abyss – Stairway to Janice

You know, in a lot of ways, Abyss sucks these days. He’s kind of the same, he is capable of being the same, but he just doesn’t feel the same. He doesn’t feel like that force, and if I’m honest, he just doesn’t look like it.

I hope his current “thing” leads to him getting back to where he was. I’m not a fan of his new attire at all, and I wasn’t that keen on his old one. I miss the Denim Shirt look.

abyssthroughtheyears

On the plus side it does seem like he is growing his hair back, so I guess Joseph Park is all wrapped up and done with. It was a good idea, it just didn’t really go anywhere, but yes, as I’ve said many times, that is TNA’s writing in a nut shell – good ideas, poor execution.

Which means the interesting dynamic is Bram. He’s like a more legit Abyss these days. He’s new, he’s arguably more intense. I hope he actually likes these kinds of matches, and they haven’t just booked him in them. Because if he genuinely likes the Hardcore style, then that’s awesome, because he’s very good at it.

With the build up to this match, I actually thought TNA might go real old school and bring out Barbed Wire Massacre, but thankfully they didn’t, because those were pretty damn brutal to watch.

Although the Stairway to Janice is a little bit of a dumb idea, and Abyss much like Mick Foley is always at the hands of his own weapons. So it would be nice if Abyss got to “stretch” a little. Though he did hit Joe with it not so long ago. I think that was Abyss? I honestly don’t remember anymore.

Bram dived through a Barbed Wire board, Abyss was tipped off a Ladder into the other, Bram took a Black Hole Slam onto the Tacks, but in the end Bram with Janice, once again took the win.

Realistically this should mean it’s over and done with, Bram wins. Which in my head says Abyss needs to go crazy. And then it’s done and better. Yes…

Bram and Magnus had an interesting little meet up backstage with Magnus looking at Bram as the bigger star. So they’re probably going to collide at some point. But currently with Bram being as dominant as he is, what chance does Magnus have? A Body Warmer? Really?!

bluelineEC3, Spud and Rhino

This is something I wasn’t expecting to take away from this week’s show, and it’s called “I actually quite like EC3”.

ec3like

When did this happen?

I did however like it when MVP, Lashley and King beat him up in the back, but this very segment was the typical nerve grinding trash that annoys me, and I think I swung the wrong way to what they wanted.

On a side note, Spud’s hair cut is just getting ridiculously bad….

It could be worse, he could pour a bucket of Ice Water over his head. Because that’s a thing now.

Hey Ho! It’s gone Viral! But Hey Ho! Everyone’s lost track of the point of it, and they’re just pouring water over themselves… such is life, such is the internet, such are idiots.

Full God Damn Stop!

icebucketAnd People Say Wrestling’s Dumb

EC3 passed the Blame for Dixie going through a Table right onto Rhino’s soldiers. And sure, it’s the whole Storyline thing again, but really, wasn’t Rhino Hired for the sole purpose, of not letting that happen. So EC3 isn’t exactly Wrong.

I’ve suddenly found a Reason to dislike Rhino, because EC3 blamed him, he then went all Brock Lesnar type of High Pitch squeally talking about Ethan’s Ass.

Also something about Dirt Porn?

rhinodirtporn

Could have meant Dirt Poor, but my mind only works a certain way, and if that way is funnier, I’m going with it.

Then Mr. Crappy Hardcore got his Ass kicked by EC3, and I liked it! I enjoyed Ethan kicking the crap out of Rhino, and even pushing Spud to the floor. So if that was your intention, well done. Also I guess this means EC3 and Rhino will have a match, and then once again, Rhino will get fired.

Because that’s how he rolls…. not literally…. but also,……. literally.

bluelineLow Ki vs. Samoa Joe – X-Division Championship

I guess it’s no secret, I’m not really that wild about Samoa Joe.

I like him, I’m glad he’s still around, I just don’t know where to place him. I’d happily have put him in a strong “TV / Global” Championship run. But he doesn’t quite fit the bill for the main events anymore. And I mean in the best of ways.

When Joe debuted, he was intimidating to watch, let alone think about being in the ring with him. He doesn’t command that presence anymore, but his reputation has stuck with him.

However, against Low Ki, in New York, as the new X-Division Championship, I’m glad to say, this is the first time I’ve seen that Joe, in a long time.

When he took the brunt of the chop and kick onslaught from Low Ki, then built up steam from mid ring to connect with his Forearm to the head. That moment when Joe turns around all fired up and the crowd are going nuts for him, That, right there, is Samoa Joe, and it’s freaking cool!

This was the X-Division of old, it’s not just about being a High Flyer, it’s about the competition, the competative nature, and Joe showed that, as did Low Ki in spades. This was the most competitive and exciting X-Division Match since Austin Aries’ original run the Championship in 2012.

As I said, this is supposed to mark a new re-birth of the X-Division, and Joe fits the bill better than anyone else right now to carry that torch. For that reason alone, despite how awesome Low Ki is, we all knew Joe wasn’t going to lose that belt.

A Short Muscle Buster later, and Joe picked up the win.

But in terms of the matches and the style that built TNA Wrestling, this was it. It’s just a shame a lot of the top stars and pioneers aren’t around to join in.

That doesn’t stop Samoa Joe vs. Low Ki from going into the Match of the Year Nominations though.

Because it was that good!

bluelineMr. Anderson vs. Samuel Shaw – I Quit

A bit of a random match to throw out there. It almost feels like Anderson and Shaw weren’t quite at the right point to have a match of this brutality again.

There really isn’t all that much you can say about the match either. But currenty, Anderson is still maintaining that level of what makes him cool. His new Anti-smoking program hits home too, so all is good.

Gunner came out to watch over the match, but in the end it was a nasty Arm-Bar that caused Shaw to Quit.

I’m struggling to find vast amounts of interest in this storyline anymore.

bluelineThe Hardyz and Team 3D tossed around this “idea” of chasing the TNA World Tag-Team Championships. Which of course involves The Wolves. Now really, this is old news. Despite it being just announced on Television, TNA themselves announced it a few weeks back, but what I didn’t know, was why I love this idea so much!

It’s not just The Hardyz vs. Team 3D vs The Wolves.

It’s a freakin best of x2 Series. Shame it’s not 3, but the 3 teams involved give it that much needed wiggle room.

The first Team to win x2 Matches, win the Belts. Each match gets a new Stipulation, so we’re going to have this series run for a little while, and no doubt the deciding match will be Full Metal Mayhem. Probably Bound for Glory.

Also awesome on Matt sticking around for the foreseeable future, that’s a boost!

bluelineOne of the other top promoted segments on this week’s show was Mike Tenays interview with Dixie Carter.

As I said last week, how the hell are we supposed to move on from Dixie’s “reign of terror” when she’s still part of the show.

Not only is she part of the show, but she’s coming back when she’s “healed”.

Now I love the fact they made her heel, against AJ Styles, that was perfect. Great timing. It started to run a little thin after AJ and Sting were “fired”.

I like the idea of putting Dixie front and centre of being the “problem” of TNA, and that gives people a source rather than just knowing the people behind the scenes are messing it up.

Which means this, no matter whose fault it is, Dixie on TV, doesn’t work. People hate it. People don’t want to watch it, people don’t want this in their Wrestling show, people don’t like seeing Dixie Carter, and more importantly, People Don’t Care About This Wrestling Storyline! To the point that TNA’s big Dixie vs. Bully – Tables lark, drew the lowest ratings, every single week. No one cares. Putting Dixie through a Table, that was cool, good moment, but that should have been it. It was finished. Now rather than it being the End, it’s back to being a New Beginning.

Who working at TNA has this constant plan for Dixie to be a Television Character. It was fundamental in Jeff Jarrett leaving, because he didn’t want Dixie on TV anymore. Yet despite the “All important Ratings” and despite how many don’t like it, they are still doing it. Stop!

Let it go.

I’m not saying never have her on TV agian, but for the love of anything fluffy and stained, let it breathe.

bluelineAngelina Love (w/Velvet Sky) vs. Gail Kim – Last Knockout Standing – Knockouts Championship

Is it bad that the pre-taped attacked from Angelina to Gail from “last week” looked as though it was filmed prior to this match… given that they were wearing the same attire as this week, rather than last.

Picky I know, but don’t BS me, least put some effort into it.

What makes it worse is this whole “Angelina doesn’t deserve a title shot” crap. Frickin’ hate it when Face GM’s and Heel GM’s bend the rules due to the good and bad guys. If there is a Wrestling rule, just stick to it. Even if it’s a sucky run of mill screw job, just stick to the contractual rematch clause. It doesn’t dissapear because “she’s been bad!”

Winds me up!

Angelina LoveShe isn’t capable of being bad! Look at that smile! =D

Guess what? The match was awesome, once again the Knockouts showing why they are credible, and once again the New York fans respecting it. I like that.

The Knockouts rule!

Though my biased love of Angelina Love makes me sad she didn’t win, and after a lovely Botox Injection into a Steel Chair connecting with Gail, I thought she might actually do it.

But alas not.

I hoped for a run – in aid from someone unexepected to then align themselves with The Beautiful People, but that didn’t happen either.

In the end, Gail managed to defeat Angelina and Velvet, who was active through-out the match, and the closing moments were this horrible looking back slam / fall, Gail delivered to Angelina onto a chair.

Unlike most moves “onto a chair” Angelina fully landed on the chair, and it looked dangerously close to Gail getting her Arm trapped under her. Thank fully everyone seems fine!

Awesome match!

But poor Angelina =(

bluelineAustin Aries vs. Eric Young vs. Gunner vs. James Storm vs. Magnus vs. Bobby Roode – Six Sides of Steel – Number #1 Contender Match – World Heavyweight Championship

What was awkward was MVP, Lashley and King taking centre stage before the match got underway. Normally MVP shines on the mic, but he seemed to be struggling and it just wasn’t all that pleasent, or all that enjoyable.

Despite my dislike for James Storm becoming Sanada’s new Mentor, I am now actually rather intrigued.

I still don’t see Storm in a “I am your greatness, I am the light” kind of way, like making him bow to him and crap.

However! I do see Storm as the kind of guy to start a Revolution, and a Revolution of the Japanese Culture is interesting. The Great Muta’s apprentice being pulled away from him by Storm, and Storm shaping Sanada into something darker to battle The Great Muta, as The Great Sanada – That, has my interest!JamesStormLight

The only problem now, is that Storm is 100% pathetic. In terms of he hasn’t won a match in ages, his only World Championship reign lasted a Week, and his first time so show Sanada how it’s done, he doesn’t even come close to winning his match.

So why, in all of the hells, would Sanada look at James Storm as the one to lead him to greatness, because Storm himself, hasn’t even achieved it.

JamesStormLightcrap

I have to say this, and I hate to admit it, but this match sucked.

For a Main Event, in a Cage, it was pretty lame.

Felt rather rushed, nothing was really all that engaging. The double Tower of Doom from either side was cool. But with EY and Roode climbing to the top and racing each other down, I fully expected there to be another match or a restart or something of that nature to take place. But instead it just ended. It felt very anti-climatic.

Obvious Roode was going to win, but I’m glad EY did too. He is still holding onto that level of credibility since he won the World Championship. That is nice to see, wonder how long it will last?

The Jobber Blogger #120 – TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 14/8/14

Jobber Blogger hardyz copyOne Hundred and Twenty times, and I’ve blabbed on about crap! Oh yes, good old TNA: Wrestling, Impact Wrestling, WRESTLING WRESTLING WRESTLING!

What a weird and wonderful place you find yourselves in. So putting Dixie through a Table boosted the ratings to continue TNA’s current run of “a good month”, putting the much hyped, four month build up of putting a Woman through a Table the highest rated Impact show since February. Which means! Back in February they had a higher rated show and Dixie needn’t have gone through a Table.

ALAS!

This means nothing really. Well aside from the Network bosses who decide to pump money into your programme. And given that Spike TV isn’t looking so keen on renewing their deal with TNA, I suppose ratings mean everything.

Which is good news to know that the ratings dropped… a lot, this week. Despite this being a better show, but it’s wrestling, so who knows.

Also they didn’t spend four months building the main event. Though the WWE spent a whole year building The Rock vs. Cena and that sucked…. like, really sucked. Which is an interesting point I just made to myself, so I shall mention that later on!

So Spike might renew their current deal, who knows, but they won’t go out of business, but it’s certainly not good news.

What is worse news however is that Alberto Del Rio got the axe from the WWE for slapping some social media guy. Rightfully so, I’m sure. I’ll let you decide if I mean getting fired or slapping the guy.

… getting fired, obviously.

We all knew it would be the next step, there is the big news of a WWE talent getting fired, or quitting or being “released” then it’s the “Why?” then it’s the TNA factor.

TNA have made a career off of bad business moves of bringing in bigger named talent, dropping the belt on them, doing nothing, getting a few weeks of ratings, pissing off a lot of fans, pissing off the talent then big name star quits and it’s done.

Happens, every, single, time.

So yes, TNA apparently went right after or at least wanted to go right after getting Del Rio with the added boost of wanting to drop the Heavyweight Championship on him right away. So that’s awesome brilliant thinking. Are we seriously thinking that in 2014, after 12 freaking years, the same stupid guy has a job that does this and thinks it’s a good idea. Lets be honest, Del Rio, really isn’t all that good. Del Rio most certainly isn’t better than the talent you already have. And are you really, really, going to throw away your build up and planning and developing to just put it on the new guy whose name has some cache with a bigger company? Are we really still doing this?

For a company that has the best locker-room in the industry, they are damn lucky, most of them have still decided to stick around, because when your as stupid as to do this, all the time, you don’t deserve to be in business.

Sorry but, James Storm, Bobby Roode, Austin Aries. Sort them out first. Samoa Joe, Eric Young, Jeff Hardy, Bully Ray sort them out next. Then focus on your new talent in the following years. It’s just frustratingly pathetic, that I hope, and pray, this actually is a work, and TNA have finally decided to poke fun at the same mis-steps they always take.

Want to solve your ratings / network problem? Here’s a hint, Don’t Do The Same Thing Every Body Hates! AGAIN!

TNA: IMPACT WRESTLING – 14/8/14

bluelineWell I started productively then thought you know what, I wonder how many guys came from the WWE and won the TNA title in little to no time at all. That goes to wikipedia, that goes to youtube, then you find your not even watching anything remotely relevant to why you went looking in the first place, and I guess that’s the beauty of the internet.

Or in other words, a waste of time.

Clearly.

Hot off the heels of Dixie going through a table, and yes to keep up to date with the time scheduel, this was 7th of August that the Impact show aired with Dixie’s power-bomb, funny enough days after this current TV Show was taped.

So they must have had to ruin a lot, or just one show?

I lose track, but it’s confusing, it doesn’t really matter, but I like to know that the Audience are at least up to date with what’s happening, otherwise it’s distracting.

Bully kicked off the show talking about, of course, putting Dixie through a table, and then went on to talk highly of Devon, and so Devon showed up.

Yes, we’ve all forgotten how Bully kicked him in the head, then joined up for The Aces and Eights, then also betrayed him, now they’re a team again.

It’s wrestling, got it.

Then something rather cool happened, we knew from the week before about this match, but just having Matt and Jeff confront Bully and Devon, in 2014, in TNA. It’s a little weird.

In a lot of ways the Hardyz seem much less accomplished that Team 3D, given that Jeff by himself has had more singles success than all of them combined.

Also this guy obviously didn’t know Matt was in town

handfan

Obviously we all know the history between these two teams, but again, it’s just weird to have the Hardyz back together as it is, through them in the same ring with Team 3D and it’s like what happened. I grew up with this, now it’s 2014 and the ring has six sides and everything’s gone crazy.

I guess we didn’t really need a banter filled history lesson, but I can let that slide for nostalgia purposes, what I really didn’t need was TNA’s horrible editing.

They do it all the time with the taped shows, maybe the segments go on too long, but it’s so un-organic it ruins what magic can be found.

The chants don’t build up they just “appear” with a crowd shot, then they’re gone and it’s back to talking, or a quick reaction from Bully, then back to Matt.

It’s very jarring and very annoying. And it really taints the moment they’re trying to create. The moment is there, it’s happening, but you’re cutting it out. I suppose I can live with the horrible editing of a forced history lesson promo to set the main event, because it’s one hell of a main event.

blueline

Low Ki vs. Homicide vs. Manik vs. Crazy Steve vs. DJ Z vs. Tigre Uno – 6-man Tag Team Scramble – X-Division Number One Contender Match

Yup, that’s a match type you won’t forget in a hurry.

Because of how the show is presented, you already know which guy will win. Given that only Low Ki got a Televised entrance, you know from that alone they view Low Ki as the favourite, biggest star, and clearly the one going to win. Given the last few weeks of TV Time, it’s no surprise either.

The jury is still out on whether Low Ki is even sticking around. I don’t think he’s signed a contract.

But whatever, he’s awesome, so I can get with it. I’ve never understood the appeal of Homicide. I don’t get why he keeps coming round. I know he has a fair history with TNA, but he doesn’t come across impressive in the least to me.

He does the odd flip or crazy jump, but that’s about as far as it goes, and he does that with no grace.

Poor Crazy Steve was the first to be eliminated followed by of course Tigre Uno. Yup, that trend continues.

Least he wasn’t the first to be eliminated, that would have really annoyed me. I’d rather Steve didn’t go straight away either, but given his character it fits.

What worries me is that it seems Uno knows he’s being underused, because he took his limited time and pulled out all the stops. He’s fantastic, I don’t get why they’re not using him better than just to fill matches.

I say it every episode he is on, but seriously:

tigre uno fn

In the end of course it was down to Low Ki and Homicide, again, don’t get the appeal.

But they did put on a good bout, hard hitting, fast paced, good wrestling.

Low Ki won… didn’t see that coming.

No chance he will defeat Samoa Joe in his first X-Division Championship defense, but it could start off a nice feud.

blueline

EC3, Rhino and Spud hit the ring to talk about last week’s actions of putting Dixie through a table. EC3 called for Bully to be fired, which brought out Kurt Angle – who is on the WWE track again, sick of hearing about that.

Kurt instead got them all arrested, I guess it was kind of funny. Maybe this is supposed to be the “end” of them too, but I don’t think we’ve seen the last of it. Which basically means, Dixie is gone, but she’s not gone.

The show was built around the footage from after the Show, Dixie’s condition, an interview with Dixie next week, EC3, Spud still around. It’s not done with at all. So what was the point? People don’t want it on the show, you’ve ended it, leave it. But we all know they won’t, so it’s going to go on, and drag out a little bit more, and a little bit more, until just like Dixie and Bully themselves, nobody cares anymore, and they didn’t care to start with. Move on.

blueline

Mr. Anderson vs. Gunner

This match happened.

I’m not sure what the crowd was doing during this match but they seemed to go onto (I believe WWE’s Fandango dancing and theme) onto other random crowd chants.

Which means they were whole heartedly invested in this match up.

Samuel Shaw ran down to “break up” the fight, which led to Anderson punching Shaw, which led to Shaw beating up Anderson, which led to Gunner breaking them up.

It’s really not all that exiting, plus it’s on the same trend as TNA’s current trend of not trusting people. I’m fairly confident Shaw will turn out to be using Gunner all of this time.

And Anderson is really the one who is right, but looks like the bad guy. Been there done that.

blueline

Biggest news from Impact, JR Tweeted about Dixie going through a Table, and they showed it. Doubt this means anything at all, but JR has been positive about TNA for a while, surely they would listen to him and take his advice. I think it’s the actual “in ring” segments of Wrestling he enjoys… you know, from a Wrestling show.

JRTNA

blueline

Angelina Love vs. Velvet vs. Gail Kim vs. Taryn Tarrell – Knockouts Championship

Isn’t it far too soon to be playing the only card Wrestling can think of, the competition between friends. Angelina and Velvet are “butting heads” already, again, again I might add. We’ve been down this road before too.

With the same people.

Again.

I’m still rather confident there will be a “surve ball” in here somewhere and the Beautiful People pretending to have issues will be the downfall of Gail’s current Knockouts Championship run.

Least that is wishful thinking, I suppose that would have to go to Velvet. Which is cool, she’s only held the belt once, and it wasn’t for long.

Taryn dived off the top rope to the floor taking everyone down, living up to her crazy and short legacy.

Something I really liked about the New York fans is that they do seem to respond well to the Knockouts, and I mean the Knockouts actually Wrestling. I respect that.

To be honest I respect any Wrestling fan that actually gives respect to the Wrestlers. I was a little appaulled by some fans in Manchester when I was there last year who were booing the Knockouts and yelling for them to get out the ring. The Knockouts Division in TNA is one of their strongest assets, they need to grow it more if anything.

The Beautiful People wouldn’t let either of themselves win, and Taryn cleaned the ring (and somehow managed to take herself out of the ring with a clothesline), Gail then dropped Velvet with Eat Defeat and retained her Championship.

blueline

Lashley, MVP and Kenny King vs. Eric Young, Austin Aries and Bobby Roode

TNA is a bit all of the place currently, I’m not quite sure where things are going to go.

Bully and Dixie has been centre stage so long now, that the World Championship really doesn’t feel that relevant.

They are obviously building Roode, but with Team 3D and the Hardyz etc taking the Main Events, it doesn’t feel like the right place for the Championship, or even that Roode seems to be the right guy to take the belt.

Another reason we don’t need Alberto Del Rio.

One thing is for sure though, and that this match was awesome.

MVP is still limping around, but King, Lashley, EY, Roode and especially Austin Aries are all on top form. Put them together in a match that is fast paced, impactful and continously moving, it creates something special.

It really is hard to look at Roode as the favourite, even though Aries lost to Lashley, and then again lost his match, just in the ring, Aries is on another level to everyone, always is. How do you put that in second place.

MVP hit Aries with his Crutch behind the Ref’s back leaving Aries ripe for the Lashley spear, and the win.

blueline

The Hardyz vs. Team 3D

What can I say. Team 3D walked out in their old school Camo, Matt and Jeff, well they’ve always looked fairly similiair to how they look now. Though if they both rocked the black jeans, Matt with his black shirt and white stripe on the sleeve his big arm bands and Jeff the same with his arm bands (also how cool are Jeff’s Arm Bands) I would be giddy if they did that.

Still don’t think the music is impactful enough, but it works alright.

I don’t know if it’s just my childhood nostalgia, but this was something. My favourite Wrestling Promotion, my all-time favourite Tag-Team the Hardy Boyz facing off against their best opponents, Team 3D easily the best Tag-Team in Wrestling history. Just something to behold, in 2014.

From the get go I was hooked, but to make it all that much better, this match was fantastic!

Which if you remembered at the start of The Jobber Blogger I had a rant about The Rock and John Cena. Well as a young Wrestling fan, obviously The Rock was one of my favourites too, who didn’t like him?

Though 2003 Hollywood Rock heel run – his best work, ever!

Aside from that, let’s move on.

Rock wasn’t all that great as a Wrestler, obviously he as an entertainer, untouchable.

But as a young Wrestling fan, you don’t really pay attention to the neuances of Wrestling technicality.

Which is why when Matt and Jeff go up against Team 3D, it was magic then, and it was magic now.

Though the difference would be all of them have stayed active in Wrestling, Bully and Devon completely re-shaping themselves psyhically and mentally, Matt and Jeff going through what they have, and Jeff easily being in the best position he’s ever been, with his best Work he’s ever done, right now.

So yeah, it’s not apples to apples here.

If there is anything that bugs me about this match, is two things.

One, I feel Matt and Jeff could have pulled out a few bigger patented Hardy moves, but then, they should also save them for another time.

Two, Devon kicked out far too easily from the Twist of Fate and Swanton.

But of course the 3D is just pure awesome as a Double Team move, so credit goes to Team 3D, and even though I’m a Hardy fan through and through, no matter what. Team 3D should have picked up the win, and they did.

What more can I say, if you grew up in the same Generation as me, then you will no doubt feel the same as a I do.

Fantastic match, utterly awesome from in the ring, just to the moment of itself, to nostalgia to everything.

Match of the Year nominee, no doubt about it.

Impact was a packed show and it was a great show. A shame they took a dive in the ratings, because TNA do deliver a lot of great work, it just falls short.

blueline

Should be awesome.

Something that is probably smart, but also not as awesome is TNA moving to Wednesday nights in America.

Thursdays have always been their thing, aside from when they had the guts to go head to head with RAW, and didn’t really make a dint. But kudos to trying.

TNA want the ratings, and WWE is thinking of shifting Smackdown back to Wednesday.

I think it really sucks that TNA at least won’t try and go head to head with WWE’s second rated programme. I understand it.

It just feels a shame, and it almost feels like a step toward the end of their Spike TV contract.

I hope the Spike bosses love the shows and Wednesday prove successful, either way, TNA needs to find a new home, because even though they make dumb errors almost constantly they still put on a great show.

And when they get it right, They Get it 100% right.

Jobber Blogger logo2

Well, the infamous One Hundred and Nineteen issue of The Jobber Blogger! It’s taken a while to get this up and running.

Seems fate is against me this week, or at least timing, but it has helped me to “adapt”. Yes, in a string of “firsts” I’m going for something I’ve decided to call “Write’N Watch”.

Yup, WNW, or wNw for those nWo fans out there (salutes), I haven’t even seen Impact yet, so it’s all loaded up ready for me to breeze through and enjoy, and I shall make notes of each segment as usual, then jump across and get typing. Time is of the most import, and also time is the issue. Also power cuts.

A string of Birthdays, break-downs and power-cuts (oh my!) later, and it seems I’m ready to roll!

See you after the first segment!

bluelineBram vs. Abyss – Monsters Ball

So yes, TNA kicks off with a Monsters Ball match, which is a pretty decent way to start a show where your Boss goes through a Table.

It’s all ECW based folks, and that kinda sucks. But Monsters Ball has its place within TNA, and thankfully so does Abyss.

What is a little jarring is how much they are plugging Dixie going through a Table, which is also the Intro Video package to this show, right after Bully and Dreamer talk about it (before it happens), making a promise. Then the video package saying it does happen, then Taz and Tenay asking the question “will it?”

I’m confused in this time-travelling plug of a show.

time travelSpeaking of Whaa, I like Bram. I’ve said it multiple times, but I like his image, music and his intensity.

Intensity is exactly what this match was, Abyss brought Janice into the match, but did the old “swing and a miss” into the Turnbuckle. That’s when Bram grabbed a Chair and took a swing, but Abyss elbowed it back into Bram. I only mention this because Bram’s selling of the elbow to the chair to his face, was excellent! I enjoy to watch people fall to the floor convincingly in a fake manor.

Also this guy

shyguy

Also totally got you on The Jobber Blogger! I’ll MAKE YOU FAMOUS!

To the Seven people that might consider reading it.

Bram went back first from a choke slam onto the Thumbtacks (I don’t remember it looking that nasty before). In the end though, Magnus got involved stealing Janice from Abyss, Bram speared Abyss through the Barbed Wire board, then hit Abyss in the stomach with Janice and took the win.

Interesting that Bram has defeated Abyss again in a Monsters Ball match. Interesting indeed.

Also Bram took Janice with him after winning the match, fairly sure this is leading somewhere. If it’s anything like poor Dixie, then Bram will have to eat a good shot from Janice sooner or later.

Back to the show!

blueline

It feels like I forgot to come back and Write the rest of this. As it turns out. I didn’t.

MVP, Kenny King and of course Bobby Lashley took to the ring. Which is neat, it really does feel these three have taken a back seat, despite Lashley being the World Champion.

So it is nice for them to step up and get a moment to talk, even if it’s a little thin.

Though it is nice to see MVP floating around, I still don’t know where to place him in the company anymore, but once he’s fully back to being healed, either legitimately or storyline, we might have a better idea to see where he goes. Hopefully against Austin Aries.

On the plus side, MVP did make me chuckle whilst describing Aries’ recent World Championship match from last week, and I quote:

a double air linesI don’t know what it is about Wrestlers and their Ass obsession. Right on queue of “who else is there for Lashley to beat” out comes Bobby Roode. Who incidentally had this to say about MVP:

“I’m not out here to talk to your Ass!”

Would be a totally different show if he was… o.O

Fairly obvious Roode would be next in line for a shot at Lashley, though I wouldn’t be surprised if it took him a few months to get a Fair match, at Bound for Glory.

But if I’m honest, right now, I want Lashley to win. I miss having long Championship reigns, and they come with someone who is legit. TNA doesn’t have anyone who fits the mould of a undefeated World Champion better than Bobby Lashley.

Kenny King went on the attack with MVP to follow, which brought our Eric Young and Austin Aries. So there you have it…

blueline

The Bromans vs. Mr. Anderson, Gunner and Samuel Shaw

It was actually nice to see the return of this flimsy “when it fits in” storyline. Also The Bromans, I do like the Bromans.

But let’s not beat it around the bush, this match only took place to further the storyline between Anderson, Shaw and Gunner. As plainly obvious from this gem of an entrance

anderson this freakin guy

Anderson wouldn’t tag Shaw, and in the end pushed him out of the way to take the Tag for himself from Gunner, of course leading to Shaw “coming to the rescue” but Anderson got caught with a Roll-Up, and was pinned. Blaming Shaw, etc etc.

Least it’s better… and a lot worse, then where Shaw was before. I suppose his whole Creepy Bastard idea was rather neat, and the creepy moments with Christy.

Still think Gunner needs a bit of a boost.

I’m starting to think I’m just writing what you already saw, and then in that case… why!?

I would upload a Face Palm picture.. but I really don’t have the effort.

blueline

Team EC3 vs. Team Bully Ray – 8-Man Hardcore Match

I forget what the actual title for this match was.

But hey, it was pretty damn good! I’m not one for getting all into ECW revival territory… again, but it is cool when it’s done right. Thankfully it was done right. Shame it keeps getting brought up rather than moved on from, but they all have their connections to TNA anyway, so it does fit.

No idea if Snitsky and Ryclon are going to be hanging around now, same goes for Rhino and Dreamer. Be nice to see Rhino stick around, maybe even Dreamer. Who knows. It was short lived the first time Dreamer got involved and somewhat uneventful, but I’m glad he’s kept in touch and works behind the scenes.

Also Al Snow made an appearance, which usually isn’t that spectacular, but having the audience with their “heads” going crazy, is pretty damn cool, so I’ll give him that. His spring-board moonsault to the floor however, didn’t seem quite as impressive, but that is mainly due to the fact it looked like if he was actually caught, he would have plummeted on top of his head.

Crazy fast paced Hardcore match, and it was awesome. Also how cool is the 3D. When it’s done right and comes out of nowhere, it’s a super cool Tag-Team move. Glad Devon is back, nice to see Team 3D at work again, and a good choice for the Hall of Fame.

Also I think half way through the match Rhino suddenly remembered he left the iron on back at home…

The Beautiful People tried their best to get Angelina Love her fair and due – rematch. But in turn Hot Mess herself, who for some reason struts around like a Drunk, decided to whine about how Angelina broke up the match between herself and Gail Kim recently.

This is the thing! A face, would always get a fair rematch, Angelina is due one, I know it’s storyline, but it bugs me, it doesn’t make sense. I hate having either “total Heel” control or “total face” control.

total face control

Least I can blame Kurt and feel somewhat better.

So yeah, next week, Gail Kim defends the Knockouts Championship against Angelina, Taryn and Velvet. Fairly sure Velvet and Angelina will throw a curve ball about “breaking up” and also Brittany should get involved… and then Madison. Then ODB, then whoever else.

Sanada vs. Samoa Joe vs. Low Ki – X-Division Championship

Storm kicked off the match, first with a backstage promo to Sanada, then to introduce Sanada. It’s just a weird fit. I can’t take it seriously, and don’t buy for a second a guy like James Storm would want to be a “master” having people bow to him. It’s just weird.

Tough love is put on Sanada regardless.

On the other side is Low Ki and Samoa Joe who had a little face off earlier on in the night. Low Ki did some rather Mortal Kombat inspired voice for his promo, which seemed very out of a place against a guy like Joe. Joe can cut a promo, because he does it from his heart, he’s himself, and he’s good at it.

I didn’t make many notes for the match itself, though very good. All three of these guys are the kind of talent you want to stay in TNA. Low Ki is just different to anyone else, which I suppose they all are, but Low Ki is a special bread, so I wanted him to get the Championship with the hope he will stick around this time. No idea if he will or not.

Sanada rolled up Joe into a bridge pin which was counted into Joe’s submission hold for the Tap-Out Victory.

Suppose it makes sense for Joe to come back into the division, he’s a fan favourite, and what better way to re-define the Division than to put Joe back as the figure head. Still want Tigre Uno to have a run. Or at least a match with Aries, make it happen!

And last but not least, Dixie for no reason at all goes to the ring with her hired hoodlums, insults them, fires Snitsky and Ryclon (good run). Then Bully, Devon and Dreamer take centre stage. I think I threw up a little when Dreamer said “extreme pipe bomb”. Thankfully King Mo punched him in the face so we didn’t have to.

I think it would have been a little better if it “happened” organically. Rather than booking a segment to do it. So it’s pretty much going to happen.

Either way, we can be picky all night, Bully pretty much put himself through the table and just pulled Dixie back closer to him. But what matters, is that it was a moment, and it was cool.

The entire TNA Locker-room stopped Dixie from leaving, and so Devon escorted her to Bully to powerbomb her through a Table.

The fans went nuts, TNA chants rattling my speakers and it was a moment that makes you proud to be a TNA Fan.

I love the crazy TNA Chants! That’s what bugs me the most about the ECW chants creeping in, we have something cool, that is ours, that is real, and that’s TNA. Support that and chant that, and it’s magical.

I think this is supposed to be the end of Dixie Carter on Television, which would be nice, least for quite a while. She’s had a good Heel run, and it’s the most fitting way to send her out.

I hope things are going to keep moving with this, and actually push a new direction for TNA.

Still no news I don’t believe on their TV Deal with Spike, they’re at least on air till the end of September with No Surrender.

Till then!
